  • The SLT begins-SDSU Jackrabbits vs IPFW Mastodons

The 2 seed against the 7 seed should not bring too many surprises even though the Mastodons can chuck some points. Expect some large crowds today for the games. There might even be few Mastodon supporters dress in red as I expect a few Pioneer fans to be dressed in blue. Jackrabbits should have this game in control by halftime with a double digit lead. If not, it could be a bit noisy in the locker room at halftime. Great March weather and the SLT in town should fill the Denny up today. Go Jacks!!

We also get the musical styling of Marcus Farr and the IPFW band!

And Filbert's favorite mascot Don. Hopefully no mascot fights this year.

Do not forget the ORU band that will be there for the evening gig.

Is this the same "ORU" band that played last year? If so, they should be a permanent fixture at the tourney.

I'd definitely appreciate a comfortable win today, one where we can sit back and enjoy the overall atmosphere of the tournament before getting to what should be a real nail-biter on Monday. How about it Jacks? Come out and win the first quarter 24-6 or something like that for me.

There may be 1 ORU alum in this group. One of the trombone players is the son of my old band instructor from junior/senior high school. There many from the SF area who play "semi-professionally" or have full time jobs anyway.

Chris Paul is out of a job - not having his contract renewed.

Wow that is very surprising to me. He was one of the best coaches in the Summit imo. There is no doubt in my mind that he won't find another D1 coaching job.

I understand it's gotta be very difficult getting good players at IPFW, but he went 125-195 in 10+ seasons as head coach there. That is god awful...

Yeah his record hasn't been that good. He is still a heck of a coach though. He is young. He will get another opportunity somewhere else at the D1 level whether it is an assistant job or a head coaching position.

64% winning percentage, there's a lot of coaches should be worrying if their winning percentage is much lower than that.I agree....how would any coach do at IPFW,no matter how good they are,as difficult as it was to recruit there. They never had any post players that had any length,Coach Paul alluded to that fact in the last interview i saw of him.Good luck IPFW if you think some John Wooden type guy is magically going to take you to the promised land.I think it was a mistake, but I guess it shows they want to compete better in the Summit,so I don't really blame them.Hope it works out favorably for all those involved.

It had to be this last season that got him fired, they lost every close game they had a chance to win this year .He recruited some good players,Hyde, Sievert (?), Carter this year,Bunch looks good. But he just couldn't get a starting five that could match the starting five the other Summit teams had,and usually had a very limited bench.Another Summit team re-building ala NDSU.

I think you meant to say 39% winning percentage.

You do realize your entire post is invalid when, for example, you are so far off on winning percentage that it is laughable...
