  • GDT:SDSU @ Omaha

No time to let the guard down today. Omaha has Summit leading Shaw who is scoring over 18 points/game and also second in rebounds. She is shooting 54% from the field. She scored 21 and grabbed 9 boards at Frost. The Mavs are 8-3 at home this season with the only conference loss to ORU. Hopefully the Jackrabbits will be focused for this game as Thompson and Ober continue to show they can play in the paint with anyone. They shot 12-17 at Tulsa. Ober also found 3 blocks after some time off for injury. The Mavs are 4-5 in conference and they will be scrappy at home tonight. The Jackrabbit defense should continue to dominate and create the transition buckets to win this one. Go Jacks!!

Tough one tonight. Will the eight day break be a blessing or a curse for SDSU? It's always interesting to see how a team responds to a longer than normal break. Omaha is clearly a team that can take advantage of an opponent that is a little rusty.

UNO has video for $9. Please share if you find an alternative.

It looks like the game video will be available on Jackrabbit Extra. That's a nice surprise.

Must be taking the feel from UNO. Odd that they could not sync up with SDSU radio call
-South Dakotan by birth, a Jackrabbit by choice.

Omaha radio guy says, "Jacks playing some pretty ball here - much better than they looked against Omaha in Brookings". I definitely agree. Excellent start tonight.

Jacks up 14 with 2:00 to go in first quarter.

Omaha radio guy, "This is going to be a team to watch in March. If they play like this they could beat about anyone in the country - and we'll all be rooting for them".

Still a couple minutes to go in the half. 38-14 SDSU. Jacks have 11 offensive rebounds, Mavs have 16 TO.

17 first half turnovers is tough defense. 40 points is good offense too. Go Jacks!!

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that a 40-18 halftime lead on the road is not too shabby.

Ok, listening on 570 WNAX and Brad Peterson is interviewing Carolyn Fiskus (sp?). She says she was wearing Jackrabbit gear to school (she's a teacher) and one of her kids said "It looks like a Jackrabbit sh*t all over you!". Yeah live...on the radio!

Macy seems to be hurt with the last contact. She limps off the court.

Gorgeous first half. Second was fugly. By end, Jacks had entire end of bench in. Lexi was the most frequent sub in the group. Vizio hits her 1st tre. HUGE TO # for Mavs. Maybe 30 TO for Mavs.

26 turnovers for the Mavs. The Jacks shot the ball 74 (!) times compared to 48 for UNO.

Jacks won the rebounding battle 47-35 and had 19 o-boards.

Interesting stat against Omaha in the two games:

                            1st 3 quarters (6 total quarters): 54 points
                            4th quarter (2 quarters): 51 points

So realistically neither game has been as close as the score has indicated.

But for Gods sakes, make layups!!!

the tv dude must have been really bored cause his lack of interest in the game just talking random stuff with little play by play was kind of annoying.
