  • GDT: SDSU @ UW-GB

The Jackrabbits play a quality Phoenix squad today. The Phoenix have passed the time test as they are again favored to win the Horizon this year. Green Bay has been a very successful mid-major WBB team. They have a 4 game winning streak going as Drake, Butler, and Wisconsin are victims of the Phoenix as they played on the road. Loyola was their latest victim playing in Green Bay. Several of their last games saw them trailing after 3 quarters and coming back to win in the fourth quarter. The Jackrabbits have also been capable of playing the game to the end to find a few victories this year. Green Bay will field many Wisconsin natives on the roster so "local" players are the majority. The teams will be very similar in size and talent. There will not be many seniors playing in this game for Green Bay with 1 starter and Ashley Luke on crutches. When Green Bay lost to Virginia and Rutgers, they had the halftime lead after a dominant first half and lost in the third or fourth quarter when the opposition turned up the defense and physical play. Good defense could be a factor in this game finding some weaknesses in the Phoenix. The Phoenix have fewer offensive rebounds per game and they have only 10 blocks(9 games) for the year. Maybe the guards will be more successful driving the ball to the hoop today. This would be another type of "signature win" on the road against a strong successful team for the Jackrabbits. Go Jacks!!
("signature win" would refer to the conversation among some that would have a resume to present to the NCAA selection group for higher seed and potential at large consideration.)

Still up to their old tricks, that's how we lost to them last year, they got a couple steals toward the end of the game, got ahead by two and we come down and missed our shot to tie.Good teams do that to you,it's not over till the clock says its over in tight games. We've done that too,Arkansas, UNI,etc....two scrappy teams get'n after it, should be a good game.

The last big challenge of the OOC season. A win might lead to top-25 votes next week. A loss would not be a killer, but would do some damage.

Which Jacks team will show up? I'm betting on a very close game.

It's about time to find out if I can run ESPN3 on two devices simultaneously. Sure hope so.

Edit: yes, it turns out that you can. Watching both games at once - nice.

        End of 1: SDSU 18, UWGB 14.

Jacks lead by 9 but Green Bay hit their last 3 shots to bring it to a 4 point lead.

Thompson with 8 points to lead the Jacks.

Let's hope the experience gained from the close games early in the season pays off. This one has been tight pretty much the whole way and it looks like it will finish that way.

Two very good teams quite evenly matched.

Six seconds to go. Jacks down by one with the ball. Timeout SDSU. A tight game indeed.

Ober misses a 3 at the buzzer.

                    Final: GB 58, SDSU 57.

                    Damn.

imo, bad decision to wait and call timeout with 6 seconds left. then have ober shoot a three? crap

Hero or goat, depending on whether the ball goes in or stays out on a last shot attempt,I've seen more misses than dramatic last second shots to be truthful. Why a three when a two will win it,and greater chance of getting fouled? Can second guess all night, lets make sure we win the next one.

I question that timeout too. Miller had a mismatch, he should have allowed her to finish it.

just a bad last 15 seconds. had plenty of time to set something up for a better look than that one.

Actually Miller had swung it to Young who was wide open for a three as they called the TO. I agree that would have been a much better option than what they ended up with.
