Re: GDT: Jackrabbits vs, The Irish

I can only see the argument, "We're not supposed to be happy just competing with this type of team." if we are looking for a national championship. I would love to see SDSU win this game, but I don't see us being a national championship contender. It would take quite the run in the tournament to pull that one out. To be competitive with the #3 team in the nation says a lot about the program. If we can have any of our athletic teams be competitive with the #3 team in the nation any year, consider me tickled pink.
"Macy Miller could play for anybody in the country. She's an all-league guard in the SEC. And South Dakota State, there's no doubt they could play in our league. They wouldn't finish in the bottom half either." --Jimmy Dykes

then he got into it with the Notre Dame SID and Graham Hays. the SID tweeted " was never meant to be odd. Coach has always been about furthering the sport of WBB and todays atmosphere was a huge lift to the sport." Zim tweeted "i'm glad. Maybe it just seemed odd to me because we are used to that atmosphere." NDSID tweeted "so are we and amazing fan bases around nation should be appreciated whenever possible as @grahamhays from@espnW tweeted from game." at which Graham Hays tweeted "Not sure how saying thank you becomes condescending. Thats a more cynical world than I prefer to live inhabit."

NDSID also tweeted "sorry matt but your way off line here-Coach was completely genuine and she'd never done that in 35 years of coaching"

way to go matt. ruin all the good will SDSU has built up over the years by commenting on something said at a game you werent even at.

I get Matt isnt supposed to be a fan but getting into a twit war with the ND SID is unprofessional.

For the record Im pretty damn happy with the result today. Anyone who follows womens bball knows that the top 5 teams are on a completely different level. Very very few teams will stay that close to ND this year.

This. Especially considering the way the game went in South Bend. The women came out and played with one of the best teams in the country.

And if you have a problem with Matt, then make sure to let the Argus know. It's a simple email, mine has already been sent.

It seems pretty juvenile to me. I know, enough with the TV comparisons, but can you imagine him sticking himself out there like that?

If you are not going to be happy until we are more than content to get a storied top-5 team to Frost and give them a solid game, then you are a fan of the wrong school. Imagine our football team going up against Alabama. That's the equivalent of what you saw at Frost today.

Zimmer let his emotions get the best of him. You have to like him for feeling close to the Jackrabbit program. But, like a lot of people, he needs to think twice before he hits the send button. That said, the fact that the Notre Dame coach, a legend, would for the first time in her coaching career take the microphone and commend a university and its fans says something. That's not arrogant, that's uplifting. As far as I'm concerned it was a proud moment in the history of South Dakota State University athletics. One that I could not have imagined 10 years ago.

I just lost a lot of respect for Zimmer. He better be ready for Tuesdays chat.

Well put. Zimmer needs to realize this isn't some amateur baseball blog. This is a real sports reporting gig. Either grow up or get out.

I think his initial twit could have been taking a shot at us fans that are ok with that result.

I'm sure he will either ignore it or laugh it off.

Engage mind before opening mouth. Good advice for everyone, not just politicians and reporters.

Can someone post a tweet where he got emotional? Or "died" on that "Hill"? Seemed like he stated his opinion, other people disagreed, and that was the end? Jesus. He doesn't work for SDSU.

You people are ****ing ridiculous. A twitter "war"? What do you people do when there are disagreements or differing opinions in real life? I don't happen to agree with Zimmer opinion here, but do I think it ruined good will or whatever the hell we built up? No. I'm not ****ing delusional. Holy ****. He didn't agree with the notre Dame sid on Twitter! Holy ****, SDSU will never get another game again cause someone who doesn't work for them got into a minor disagreement with someone online.

I was totally happy with the outcome. You compete with a top 5 in womens basketball its a victory. And the folks down south were glad it ended in double digits cause our heads are already getting swelled. Love it!!!
