ESPN's Charlie Creme has his first Bracketology predictions up. espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/bracketology . Has the Jacks in the Sioux Falls Region (neat to see that header) as a #13 seed playing Arizona State in Tempe. Under this scenario,the Jacks would have to get two wins in order to play in Sioux Falls.

You are correct, that is cool to see. Now we as a greater Sioux Falls/eastern South Dakota community need to buy tickets and bring great crowds to this thing. I know the teams involved will bring varying numbers of fans, but it will be the local community which will make the difference and put Sioux Falls on the map as a legitimate host site for future NCAA events.

This would be the same ole rut,a 13 seed playing against a 4 seed on their home court. I'd like to start seeing us being more like GB's #8 seed playing a # 9 seed. I for one don't feel satisfied losing first rd games in the NCAA tournament when we get there every time.We have to start improving on that,and it starts at getting higher seeds than #'s 16, 15, 14, 13. This means automatically playing your opponent on their home floor. Arizona State is really good this year, Kentucky would be really tough too, I wouldn't like our chances to make it to Sioux Falls, although it's nice we'd have the opportunity to, by being assigned to that regional.

Are there any numbers out there that indicate strength of schedule yet? It would seem the women Jackrabbits should have a fairly difficult OOC compared to the rest of the field. If they come out of the OOC with a good record and not lose to Denver or IPFW on the road, the seeding ought to be more favorable. We need success OOC to find higher seeding. Of course, they need to win the Summit if we have a so so OOC record.

I couldn't find any pre-season strength of schedule ratings. I did find that the Jacks finished at 105 at the end of last season. I would guess they will rank a little better by adding Notre Dame and Maryland and dropping BYU. Losing UALR and Middle Tenn.State will hurt as they are both getting pre-season Top 25 votes. They update each teams SOS ranking as the season goes on,so the Jacks should rank really high after the non-conference but will drop like a rock when Summit games start.

I couldn't find any pre-season strength of schedule ratings. I did find that the Jacks finished at 105 at the end of last season. I would guess they will rank a little better by adding Notre Dame and Maryland and dropping BYU. Losing UALR and Middle Tenn.State will hurt as they are both getting pre-season Top 25 votes. They update each teams SOS ranking as the season goes on,so the Jacks should rank really high after the non-conference but will drop like a rock when Summit games start.

I've seen Green Bay ranked pre-season ,so a win there will be big,Arkansas and DePaul ,Creighton,Marist are well respected,so wins there will help...the main thing to me is not having the inexplicable(in the eyes of the voters),bad losses this year,they kill rpi.......take care of business and we should be just fine.Ideally,you want to beat a team,and then they start beating everyone else they play....teams like ND and Maryland pretty much do that.

Side note....we beat both MTSU and UALR (UALR pretty soundly) and we didn't get much credit for those wins, in fact, both were ranked better than us after we beat both of them , along with BYU ....because they didn't have the bad losses we had is my reasoning. It does no good to win against the good teams and turn around and negate getting any credit for them when you lose to teams with an rpi of 200+.

Exactly, those type of losses are the losses that are keeping that Jacks at a 13/14 seed instead of a 12/11 seed which makes a huge difference in the 1st round.

Agree. Any loss (except for maybe Notre Dame) as a mid-major hurts and hurts even more when they have an RPI north of 200. I think we have to get out of the OOC portion of our schedule with 4 or fewer losses and run the table in the Summit to have any hope of getting a seed better than 13.

We had 4 losses in conference,NDSU,IUPUI,USD and Denver.None of these teams have a particually high rpi,maybe the Yotes had a pretty good rpi.This year ,the Yotes are the only team that we could lose to in conference without it being considered "a bad loss".Denver probably hurt us the most,with the loss to them.

Don't really know where to put this but NDSU women just lost to D2 Minnesota-Crookston 76-73. If the Jacks lose to them this year I swear.....

Omaha also lost to a lower level team yesterday.

Exactly. It is what it is. The Summit rep is gonna be a double digit seed 99% of the time and will play on the home court of a nationally ranked team. Heck, the year the Jacks went something like 32-3 and got up to something like a #16 national ranking, they were still a 7 seed...
