Destney Oberg from Minn , 6' 2", but really young and with plenty of time to maybe add a couple inches, if she's so inclined to do so. Some others in Minn with good height, names escape me. Very hard to recruit these players, but if we can convince them we have the players to surround them with, to go pretty far in the NCAA Tournament, maybe they'll want to play closer to home and hang their hat here, like Waytashek did (hoop girls top 100).
It comes down to preference. Would you rather have a 5-9 nonproductive guard at the end of the bench or a 6-5 post who may be taught to become semi-productive.

Watching 6'4 Martha Alwal from Worthington playing for Mississippi State against Duke. She could have helped defend the Oregon State post. Not sure we even offered her.

From what I heard the Jacks did show some early interest but have no idea if it went any further than that or if she was interested. The coaching staff certainly saw her enough as she was on the same team with Gabby.

Mieras may have a similar look to Adams in regards to build. I can see that a 6'4" or taller player has potential for rebounding and shooting inside. The number of athletic women at this height is not excessive. I am guessing that AJ would give an interview to any 6'5" who has some talent. There have been a few taller players in the Summit as IUPUI loses a 6'4" player this year and Omaha loses a 6'4" player too. USD has a 6'4" transfer from American who will be suited up for the Yotes next year. She may be the only 6'4" player in the conference. She played in 20 games as a sophomore at American. She is another tall Canadian woman who is playing in the USA. We can put it on the wish list for a taller post player. It is somewhat a mark of affluence in the women's game to have a big post like Kentucky has 2 7'0" players followed by a 6'11" and 6'10" player. Meanwhile we will see how our shorter posts handle the 6'4" post the Yotes bring to town next year(and the 6'4" post Notre Dame brings in next year as well).
Saw the Yotes transfer post walking around at the Denny during the tournament. She looked to be all of 6'4 but didn't have a lot of bulk to her. After seeing Ober go at it with McIntyre , I think she can hold her own with this gal.

Might, might not make a difference .Gonzaga lost to BYU in the Conference Semi- final, beat George Washington and OSU in the NCAA's rather handily.Go figure. Must be nice to get an at-large bid and turn your disappointment around, get a second chance. That's what we should aspire to be, a perennial at-large candidate. Gonzaga has the size, as opposed to our lack of we were lamenting about to challenge Hamblin. Two at 6'5" and one at 6'4".Must have made the difference.

State and Ohio State are really good teams and Texas and Oklahoma aren't bad either - definitely a better chance though than beating a 3 on their home floor.
It's not the three conference wins that get us a better seed, it's the fact that those are three horrible losses on our record that gives the committee every reason to drop our seed. You can't have losses to 200+ RPI on your resume and expect higher than a 14 seed. IUPUI has an RPI of 215, NDSU is 268 and Denver is 309.

I agree that a #11 may be a stretch, but 27-5 without those three bad losses would certainly have gotten us consideration for a #12.

UALR got an 11 seed. Won their 6-11 match-up vs TAMU. UWGB was a 9 seed, but lost to 31-0 Princeton. Gonzaga is through to the sweet 16, in Spokane, off an 11 seed. 11/12 is the last in/first out at-large. For mid-majors, that's going to be a sub-45 RPI, and more likely sub-35 RPI. Jacks have the right mix of teams OOC. The only way to improve that Jacks have control is to win more games. Otherwise, Jacks need the rest of the Summit, or at least half, to up their scheduling and performance, then beat them. But that's out of SDSU's control.

This post right here. Also wouldn't hurt to not have losses like we did to Marist and Depaul. Every year we have a couple games where we wonder if we even came out of the locker room. Those hurt too.

for Gonzaga, Greinacher (6'4") is listed as the senior. 6'5" Cheslik is a junior and averaged 23.5 minutes a game. 6'5" Wolfram is a freshman and averaged 20.2 minutes a game. looks like post is set for a few years.

believe next years group are 5'7" and 5'9" guards and a 5'11" wing.

Gonzaga had the height to match up that the Jacks lacked , plus their entire line-up seemed to be a step or two quicker than the Beavers.

Marist is #117, Creighton is #88 and DePaul is #37. Those would have been nice wins to add to our resume, but aren't terrible losses, especially considering two of the three were on the road.

It's the way we lost. We didn't compete against Marist or DePaul, we lost by 18 and 22 points respectively. The committee looks at the Marist game and sees an 18 point loss it's not good.

This is about an entire resume.

It was another season that we had some good wins and some disappointing losses. The coaches recruit great student athletes that would like to win another NCAA tournament game. We have some great seniors that have played their last game. Those women have contributed many hours to the program and they will be successful as they move to another phase of their lives. I would expect that next year's team will have similar goals of a conference championship and advance in the tournament. The Jackrabbit women have had the tournament level 6 of 7 years. That is remarkable. 3 of the 9 teams in the Summit have had that experience overall. However, I do not expect the program to go backwards and allow more teams a shot at the tournament. The other teams will need to come forward. That extra competition may lure a few more posts to be recruited in the conference as well. The support that the WBB team receives is darn good as we look through the country. This is a good place to play WBB. I would like to see the WBB win 30 games next year. The games that AJ schedules would make that another really successful year. Good luck to the seniors Megan, Mariah, Rachel, and Megan as we recall the successes at SDSU.

Gonzaga game vs OSU was 2 pt game at 1:28 left,1:26 it was 4 pts on about less than a second on the shot clock make. Gonzaga finished with 8 straight FT's to Monopolize the last 1:26 of the game . It all fell apart for OSU , no heroic 3 ptrs from Wiese, as with all 3 pt aces, they don't shoot as well when their team is behind and deparately needs one, usually, unless left wide open. After the first half, Hamblin scored 0 points, she had 9 after the first half and finished with 9. Our defense, as good as it is, looked stagnate compared to Gonzagas, they were much more bothersome to OSU. I've often wondered if Summit refereeing, with all the little touch fouls, negatively affects our defense in NCAA games. Looking hard at our defenders, they always pull back at the last second, where as Gonzaga was much more attuned to causing some disruption, much more aggressive and determined to cause some loose ball deflections. Just my own nagging theory. If we can get that post presence we need, we'll be right there with these teams. Our 6'2 posts are given too much of a herculean task to cover players 4" taller, IMO. They're fine for Summit League play.
Chloe was aggressive and disruptive, she deserves a lot of recognition for the way she played.

I'd like to complement Macy on her heady decisions .I've often thought maybe it's better letting players goof up a shot on their own without getting the retaliatory foul called trying to make amends. Macy had the ball stolen from her and instead of fouling on the breakaway, she backed off and nabbed the miss, which was a wild and hastily rushed shot off the bottom of the rim. Alexis did something similar earlier, but they called a foul on the miss anyway, very, very late whistle, after ref saw the miss. There are a lot of auto whistles in the women's game.
