It appears the WBB team is getting some road work early this morning. That was a short break.
Maybe it's just to stay in shape, might be easier to stay in shape rather than get back into shape.
It could mean they are serious about getting a better jump on the season next year. The speculations are just about limitless

I would guess it's business as usual. With team camps coming up soon , it's standard practice to get the players back to work.
I would believe the WBB team will be assisting with the youth camps as well. It is also a time when they can get some summer classes to lighten the school burden the rest of the year.

Much easier to knock off 12/15 credits during the summer when on off-season than carry the 18 credits fall/spring semesters on-season. As a winter sports letterman, I always suffered down grades toward end of fall semester, and struggled thru that first major exam/paper in spring semester. Summer school jr/sr saved my bacon.
Summer classes can really help GPAs, cause can focus on classes and studies, and still have the time for 2 hours of play/practice.

No reason for a student-athlete to ever take 18 credits in a semester, especially if they are utilizing a redshirt year and/or summer courses. Only 120 credits required to graduate in almost all SDSU programs, meaning 15 or less on average per semester.

True, except for engineers and pharmacy students. It was 136 for engineers back in the day and I'm too lazy to look up pharmacy. If making it through in 4 years, then engineers needed to average 18 credit hr/semester.

I would expect that the option to carry 12 hours during the regular school year would be a big benefit for the student-athlete to maintain some sanity to balance school and sports. the summer hours for classes keeps those players on a 4 year schedule or even a chance to gain grad hours later. The players that were at the Jackrabbit Auction indicated summer school and training was a good thing(positive) for the team. Most of these young women have been playing year around for many years as involvement in the summer leagues starts in early high school.

There are very strict rules as to how many contact hours coaching staff can have with student athletes over the summer. By enrolling in summer classes the NCAA allows student athletes to have more contact time with coaches. The basketballers are on campus from the end of May until early August. The men's schedule is different this year because of their Brazil trip.

Message for the youth: “Set your goals high and work for them, because if you set your goals where they should be, it’s going to require a lot of hard work. And even if you don’t achieve them, it shows longevity, and it shows commitment. And those are both things you need for the rest of your life,” Tony Fiegen
Mike Jewett promoted to associate head coach after being an assistant coach the past couple of seasons. Also Haylie Linn was named director of basketball operations. Linn joins the Jackrabbit program after spending two years as the graduate assistant for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s basketball program.

It appears that Linn has some experience playing/coaching throughout the eastern Midwestern area. Cannot hurt if the Jacks decide they want to expand their recruiting footprint.
I am not certain what the associate head coach means vs. the assistant coach. I understand that this might elevate Mike in the pecking order. Is there more duties or pay only that attaches to this designation? Who was the last associate head coach for the WBB?

It also lets other coaches know who's the top assistant and who's likely ready to take over as a head coach at another school.
