Here's what I know: Anyone in the industry will tell you that Tyler is an unusually talented play-by-play announcer. He is known for his preparation and deep knowledge of the sports he covers. He brings a great sense of humor to his work and delivers a straight call with no homerism. His idol? Vin Scully. SDSU will be lucky to keep Tyler around. Steve Imming was great, too, but I'm guessing Steve would tell you that Tyler is a unique talent who can call almost anything and can do radio and TV with equal skill.
I don't remember the name of the announcer who did play by play for the first couple games of the men's season when Tyler was doing football , but he was much better than JJ. Being a Minnesota native , I cringe every time JJ butchers Hannah Strop's hometown when he does the starting lineups.

Outside of Rowe, we held MTSU to 7-41 from the field. We'll be fine.

Henceforth ,this game shall be known as "the day the women lost and everyone vented their anger on the radio announcers" game......just kidding ...."venting anger" or just welcomming the distraction maybe. The message is,don't kill the messenger I guess.

Is this thread drift,it is isn't it.

I agree,if someone said we'd be 9-5 at the start of the season at this point,I'd say ,"I'll take it"

How ironic? The first time I heard Tyler, he did remind me of Vin Scully. My student days were interrupted for a growing up experience of living and working in LA 1960-61, and one of things that help me keep my sanity was listening to the Dodger games. Got very familiar with listening to Vin Scully and Union76 Oil Company of California Commericals. I believe he is still doing games, but Tyler picked the best role model he could and its going to pay off in the long run. We are indeed lucky to have him.

Also since my internet feed available today was horrible, I was forced to listen to the EWU vs Towson game on ESPN700 out of Spokane. Those guys were horrible homers, and I could not help feeling that those guys got what they deserved today. Tyler would not dream of talking about the Jacks constantly and ignoring accompolishments of the opponents while doing a broadcast. He does a good job of giving credit when credit is due.

A few late thoughts: 1) Jill does not go on road games. 2) JJ had a really bad day IMO, and is not great on his good days. 3) It is not easy to pick up a part-timer for women's games (JJ does baseball games over in Minnesota in the summer), when you also have to hit the road for days at a time...wish it was easier. 4) I think the one poster was thinking of Scotty Klaus(niewski) who did women's games before JJ, but he (like most of the rest of us) needed full-time employment I believe. 5) Finally...losing to MTSU on the road is not a disaster...they are a VERY good team, certainly top 30 or so, and as Scott Nagy noted in his post-game interview after win over ND (that's North Dakota, not Notre Dame...ha) winning on the road in Division I is NEVER easy...a truism especially when the opponent is as good or better than you are. 6) We do need to win at UA-Little Rock and I believe we will, but Notre Dame will be interesting, just to see how we perform against one of the top three teams in the country. GO JACKS!

Central Michigan just played them (ND) today,a team I consider pretty much our peer ,they got beat by 34 pts, 106-72. ND's entire bench played, all scored except for two players. ND shot extremely well in this game however,61% FG and 57% from 3 pt land. Lets hope we get a little colder shooting from the Irish when we play them.

I might not have worded my post well in regards to Notre Dame. Chances for actually beating the Irish are practically nil...especially playing on the road. But I still say it will be interesting to see how we perform against that level of talent. Will we do better than we have against some lesser teams who have taken us to the woodshed? I'm hoping the level of competition will encourage better play on our part.
