  • GDT: NIU vs SDSU

The Huskies bring a 4-3 record to Frost. They have not played since 12/05. The losses come at Green Bay, Wisconsin, and New Mexico St. The Huskies start 4 guards and 3 of those measure 5'6" tall. The Jackrabbits will have an advantage in size tonight. Let's hope that they do not give speed advantage away to the Huskies. The Huskies only road victory thus far is at Illinois St. A firm victory(20+) tonight would give the entire team time on the court. The next 3 road games(ending at Notre Dame) will be the final tune up for the conference. Go Jacks!!

Jacks have buckled down in the second half and are comfortably leading by 20 with 3:00 to go. They were awfully flat in the first half. A bit of a letdown is not surprising considering the games they had last week and those that are coming soon. NIU looks decent, however.

67-50 Jacks, final. Went on a 12-0 run between the 3rd and 4th media timeouts to pull away.

That's 200 DI wins overall and an undefeated home non-conference record this season.

Wow. That's quite a team AJ is putting on the floor this season.

Both teams played tough defense The Jacks went to some zone in the second half and kept the Huskies further off balance. The Jacks were more successful driving the lane in the second half and picked up more fouls on the Huskies which may have been the difference as Jacks shot over 70% at the line. It was at the end of the game that the rebound advantage tipped to SDSU. The Huskies are a quick and tough team. There must be a few surprised about the 9-4 record at this point of the OOC. The bench was big again tonight.

Looking at the stats after the game we shot 29 free throws to NIU 10. I think that we have adjusted to the way the fouls are being called for the most part. If we do have one area we could work on it is the offensive fouls although the way they call those now is kind of a mystery to me. Especially this Sunday against central Mich.
