    GREAT WIN FOR THE LADIES!!!!

Also, hats off to the crowd that showed up last night. They were into it the whole game.

I do have to say that I was a bit shocked at how few people were there. Students and season ticket holders alike. Yeah, it's a Monday night. Yeah, it's finals time.

That game was circled on my calendar early and just figured it would have another 1,500 people there. Didn't even hear the attendance number just judging by empty seats.

Actually, because of revisions to the RPI procedures about 2 (or 4) years ago, road wins are worth a lot more, and road losses less damaging, so getting the 1-25 RPI teams interested in getting a 1.4 * a top 50 win should get more of these top teams into Frost, especially if they are a home/home swap. Part of the reason that Notre Dame is scheduled to come to Frost next (?) season. Both Georgetown and Penn St are the return trip for games at their place last season. Jacks have REALLY made the big time when FROST is the front end of the home and home. We've made it in the mid-majors groups. Middle TN and UALR are willing to come to Brookings first. I would not be surprised if some of the lower level teams in the Big 10, Big 12, and SEC may start considering a visit to SDSU a good thing. SDSU IS a mid-major power.

1713 attendence. Loud crowd, especially during the last 4 minutes of 1st half.

          1713....

Doesn't that seem really low for that quality of an opponent? I figured 2,000 were there. It is what it is. If the game was on Saturday the crowd would have been bigger but Penn State probably wouldn't have travelled here for a weekend game.

The crowd that was there was great! Just need more of them.

Another thing...1713 in attendance for the highest ranked team to ever set foot in Frost? Pathetic...
I totally agree about the crowd - 1713? Sad. It will not happen very often that a top 12 big 10 team will come into Frost Arena to play the Jacks. Especially if we keep beating them. I was hoping for 3,000 or more. I am sure this morning everyone was telling their friends that they were there! For those Jackrabbit fans that were in Frost - great job. For those Jackrabbit fans that were NOT their - SHAME on you!

Big Time win for our women's program.

What was the usc and nebraska attendance? Seemed pretty packed and good crowd for usc if I remember correctly.

I've been wondering this all year. For me it started with the sub-par fooball crowds(other than NDSU)I really think our fans have become apathetic the longer we've been out of transition. #12 ranked team comes to Frost 5-6 years ago there's 4000 there...last night... 1700???
This is an issue the administration needs to look at seriously...bad crowds used to be blamed on losing(men's)...not really the case anymore and has never been with the women. I really wish one of the players or AJ would've called us fans/students out after the game. Someone needs to that people will listen to.
And I don't even want to hear the students/ bad seating argument. Until they fill up me and my kids will enjoy them...they're great seats IMO! Bunch of damn babies...and oh yeah...get off my yard.

Anyway...great game by the ladies...they continue, every year in making this university proud..IT's a damn shame there were so few there to see it.
                    SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

Understand the comments about the crowd size, but a couple of items to at least consider: 1) There were probably 100 students there, if that. Midweek and finals probably provided some rational, but I'm really wondering about our students and whether they understand what they are missing?? 2) We have four home games for men and women in seven days. We have to count on a lot of fans from 50+ mileage to support the teams. I know personally a number who looked at the schedule and saw back-to-back women's and men's game on Saturday and Sunday, who will probably be here, but skipped this game and will probably miss next week's Wayne State game. It is what it is.

Now, having been there, the crowd that was on hand did a great job in getting into the game...maybe as good as I have seen for quite some time. Naturally that is a little easier to get them going when you jump out as we did in this one...which also led to a growing optimism by the crowd of the possibility of beating Penn State.

And finally...I have always been disappointed in the attitude that a lot of our fans have that the non-conference part of the season is a hit and mix for attendance, waiting for the conference season to start. A throwover from D-2 that just has never really gone away.

For my part I looked long and hard at this game. 2hrs and 15 min is a pretty good distance for me to cover and be back the same day. Kids have school, work in the morning(not that big of a factor really) but throw it in with the last couple blow outs on the road. I didn't know if it was worth disrupting my whole family for that long of a trip. Of course I always want to be around when potential history is there, and it was, and it did! Am I kicking myself? Absolutely. I think people missing out on a game like this will cause many of the fans to think twice before they dismiss a game or decide it isn't worth the trip. Had I lived even an hour closer, it would have been a no-brainer for me. That said I still wish I would have taken the chance and now I probably will next time!

Complacency, apathy, whatever it is playing big name teams in Frost (WBB) is apparently not new and exciting to most anymore. I doubt that finals had much effect on the student attendence, it sounds like it's been terrible all year. They just are not into WBB anymore. Look how many of them showed up at the Summit Finals (<50?) compared to the mens' finals (a massive line forming hours before the game) last year. Beyond the students, you can see it on a smaller scale among the diehards on this board too. We just beat the #12 team in the country and there have only been about 30 posts since the game ended. How many would there be if the men did the same? Someday we'll really realize how lucky we were with WBB during this AJ run.

I was planning on going when I saw PSU coming to town, but wednesday nights are a bad night....other more important things going on on wednesdays.

I even had paid for tickets offered to me that I turned down. (they did get used)

I forgot about the game till I saw the game day thread started. With my wife having our baby number 2 a few weeks ago I couldn't tell you if I was coming or going or what day of the week it is. When usc came it was hyped for awhile. To me this game didn't have the same hype.

I know this is a seperate issue but I think some of the value or getting fans from outside of brookings is the lack of double headers. Having to drive in for 2 different games a week getting gas or eating out if not getting consessions at the game. Having 2 games in a day back in the D2 days were like an event. Like you marked it becasue there were always 2 games. Plus their are so many competing entertainment and sporting events that can affect who goes to games.
