Steve Imming said Jackrabbit Womens Basketball games will be broadcast on WNAX's sister station Big Country 104.1. Great news for the Womens program, this will expand the coverage area, especially at night. Hopefully this is the first step for a state wide broadcast network for all SDSU teams.

Women's basketball games to be aired on WNAX-FM
The South Dakota State University women's basketball team will receive expanded radio coverage this season with the addition of WNAX-FM to the list of Jackrabbit broadcast partners.
Located at 104.1 FM, the Yankton-based station's coverage area includes a large portion of southeastern South Dakota and parts of northwestern Iowa and northeastern Nebraska. . . .
KJJQ Radio 910 AM in Brookings will continue to serve as the flagship station of Jackrabbit women's basketball. Scotty Kwas returns for his 10th season as the play-by-play announcer.
The Jackrabbits, 19-9 a season ago, open the season with an exhibition game Tuesday (Oct. 31) against Bemidji State (Minn.). Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Frost Arena. (read more)

However, when I want to hear the Jacks and big time DI sports and 910 is covering the game I don't always have the best reception. Having a radio source in the SE for women's BB gives me an alternative to the internet broadcast and more flexibility. Great news for DI fans across eastern SD.

Re: Radio Broadcasts
WNAX is working with KJJQ now on football games, where Scotty Kwas (KJJQ) is the color person down on the field for football games. I think this was one of the things that were incomplete with WNAX as not having a person behind the bench giving reports about injured players and catching the coach for a few minutes at half time. Sometimes Dallas Cole of KBRK has this role too, since KJJQ and KBRK are owned by the same company.
I think the fact that WNAX Fm has added the women basketball is good for SDSU and radio stations especially in rural states need to work together at times such as athletic broadcasts. Its a good thing.

There are times when you get a weak signal in Kingsbury county, so the FCC authorized signal for KJJQ is very weak. James River is max. The game if there is one will probably be a night game and if you got a laptop you should be able to use the interenet. I am thinking with a invite, that the internet broadcast may be overloaded just as WNAX experiences during some of their broadcasts. This is a good thing as it tells us SDSU alums out of the area and out of state have an interest in SDSU athletics.

I am not sure it is fair to call KJJQ's signal "very weak". KJJQ is a directional broadcaster.
According to Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KJJQ
Known as Radio 910, the station has a broad range transmitting across eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota, reaching the cities of Yankton, South Dakota, Webster, South Dakota, Chamberlain, South Dakota, Marshall, Minnesota, Olivia, Minnesota, and the communities between these points.
So it is a fact KJJQ may be hard to pick up in the James River Valley, but it is not because the signal is weak it is because you are not in their directional coverage as set forth by their FCC license. This problem is made worse after sunset as the station is required to "power down" during the nighttime hours.
And yes I worked there many years ago.
