A great weekend to be a Jackrabbit!

You did NOT want to come to Brookings this weekend wearing red. The Yotes and Huskers found that out Saturday and Sunday. Women Jackrabbits played well. Not great but well. It appeared to me that the Huskers are a little overrated? Not trying to take anything away from the Jacks but I was not impressed with the Huskers. I think Crieghton was a much better team than Neb.

Eide was strong. A little surprised that Megan Stewart never even seen the floor. Walters only a few minutes. Strop played significant minutes and contributed on both ends of the floor.

Amazing to me how poorly we played vs Creighton and how well we played vs Neb. Excellent win today. Nice crowd for a Sunday afternoon with NFL football, deer season and great weather outside all keeping some people away. I was impressed. You had to love the effort.

I wonder if Steph Paluch hadn't injured herself late last season,if they were both,her and Eide, were on the floor this year,how great we'd be......hymmmmm!

I don't think the Huskers want to admit that they lost to the Jackrabbits? If you go onto their website under women's BB -- schedule and results they have the Huskers listed with a WIN over the Jackrabbits. I imagine its a tough pill to swallow after being ranked in the top 20.

Regardless of the how they list it we will still show it as another Jackrabbit victory.

Same thing as the last time we beat them,had to wait this long for another chance,except for last year where we played them tough in a loss on their home floor.....they must be in denial...lol

I had only been two the creighton and nebraska, but the defense intensity between the two games was huge. If we played d like that everygame we could be a top 25 team in my opinion.

As we were walking out of the game today the Nebraska team and coaches were headed to their locker room and the head coach turned to us and said, "You guys have great fans."

Their,game review is up now on the Neb athletic web page,read it, they are pretty humble in defeat and very gracious in stateing we were the better team on this day.My hats off to the author for giving the winner his due.

The SDSU women have had a tougher schedule up to this point than the Huskers. The Huskers will have a load in conference play, but I have seen all the SDSU games and it is evident that improvement with this schedule made the Jackrabbits more ready than the Huskers for today's game. Ashley and Megan W are capable to drive the bucket against good competition. Gabby continues to hone her decision making with 5 assists and only 3 turnovers in 30+ minutes of steady full court pressure. Katie continues to be steady against stiff competiton and Hannah had big contributions again. Tara had a quiet 7 pts., 4 steals, and 2 rebounds. Leah 10 rebounds and was steady handling the ball. Mariah had early fouls and did not get on track today, but that will change again while she challenges for all rebounds. Megan W played some defense on Hooper today that shows she can handle a strong offensive player from the defensive side. This win is a great time for the women as they get some road games with a good attitude. You had to like the Husker Fans at Frost today. Last year in Lincoln they were very welcoming to the SDSU fans. (Much like the football game for those who may have been in Lincoln for that.) I hope that the women will be as improved in another 4 games. It will be fun to watch.

My thoughts,I guess we can get by with 20 turnovers,when we cause them to commit 20 also(1:1 ratio)Just a really intense, hard fought game.
The women came ready to play,and,they looked to me anyway,to be the better athletes,especially dominating the boards against a team known for rebounding.Just the composure and poise they showed really impressed me especially for the whole game.I was expecting them to fizzle down the stretch,but they just stayed focused and played with confidence the whole way.
This game is where they became a team playing as a team and not as a bunch of individuals trying to do too much.They performed as a team,trusting in their team mates and covering each others back.Great win,i'm excited for the rest of the season if we can play like we did today.

One play that sticks in my mind,typical of the effort by everyone in a jackrabbits uniform, was when we just made a huge bucket to take the lead, i think,and Nebraska's gaurd seemed a little miffed because she took the inbounds and was charging down court,when Chloe tipped the ball to her team mate preventing them from responding right away.Great play.Gabby always amazes me with her cobra quick steals,i don't think the refs even see wether or not she fouls,its so quick and all of a sudden the balls out of the dribblers control and sitting,ok bouncig in position for her to grab it and go the other way.Last game Eide had a bunch of steals,this time Tera was the ball stealer.We are starting to utilize our individual strengths and everyone makes plays through out the game.....we're gell'n (sp?)Mvp ,"miss efficiency" award Ashley Eide 10-17 FG,1-2 3 pt FG,5-6 FT....Honorable mention Hanna strop 2-2 FG,2-2 3 pt FG (100%) and the whole team as a cohesive ,efficient,well running machine.
