The Jacks definitely needed this one after yesterday. It's great to see they seized the moment and got a nice win.

No time for reliving this weekend. 2 really big games for women this week coing to Frost. The men start Tuesday. (And it is hard to forget the yotes little intervention Saturday. ) Let's plan for more wins this week vs. last week. Definitely get some use of parking permits this week!

Congrats to Megan. Not to take anything away from Megan W -- but this is a well distributed team. At one point or another - there was someone stepping up. Eide and Gabby were solid and Clarin is going to be hard to keep off the boards for our apponents. And when Mariah was having trouble finishing - Katie came in and gave the team a boost. We are young. Gabby, Clarin and Waytashek do not have a ton of minutes in crunch time. Leah and Ashley are giving the leadership out on the court and the others are responding well. We will be OK -- we will continue to get better. The first three off the bench are strong. Tara will always do what the team needs and can be a spark. As can Lingle as she proved yesterday.

I think an over all good experience this weekend. Now to Frost! Big games coming up in Brookings!!

We have a huge upside coming off the bench to score. If we get into the 3 pt groove, it will be off to the races. Katie proved over the weekend that she is a force low with her back to the bucket. She scored well against some tough competition. Mariah also proved her toughness on the board and scoring. We did not get to the line much Saturday(18) and shot 50% at the charity stripe and we only had 5 attempts in regulaton on Sunday. The overtime session may have been a small coming out showing a desire to win. Bring a crowd for Wednesday.

Were Lingle and Clarin ever on the floor together ? It would make an interesting combination - I think Clarin would be more effective facing the basket, rather than posting up. Playing with Katie would allow that

Valid point. Sometime soon this season Clarin is gonna explode (and by next season, watch out!). She'll put up a 25 pt game this year...just wait. This team is still adjusting to a new style of offense, and at the same time trying to define everyone's roles. We'll more than likely take some lumps in non-conference...and quite frankly, some of the games might be ugly with the level of competition we're playing. BUT...I know who my money is gonna be on come March!

I was there on Saturday when Villanova was thumping us and a fan from Villanova made a comment about our team and I turned around and said, just wait til March when we are in the Tournament and you are sitting at home watching. The only thing that matters is those three games in Sioux Falls! Go Jacks!

                    Re: Washington State-GDT

Some observations from being there and watching all four games played in the tourney. In the Nova game, the Jacks just couldn't find the basket, and Nova was on fire in the shooting category. In addition to that, we just looked nervous and wooden. But I remember being in Cancun last year when the Jacks scored only 3 points in the first half of one of those games, and last year's team turned out pretty well. Minnesota put a little more pressure on the Nova shooters than we did and that cooled them off a bit.

On our side, We are going to be just fine. We may take some lumps, because we are going to be playing as tough a non-conference schedule as the women have ever had, but I like our chances going forward. Megan W is everything advertised, and it is wonderful to have her back on the floor. Gabby and Chloe are a great fit for a 1-2 punch at the point, and both will see lots of playing time, which will keep us very fresh there. Maria Clarin reminds me of Melissa Pater when she was a freshman: tough inside (Clarin may be quicker), good rebounder, and just too anxious on the shooting end. That will work itself out (it basically did in the second half already) and with Katie's strength and defense, we have another 1-2 punch there, with Stewart not far behind (so 1-2-3). Leah doesn't score much, but she is a lock down defender, and will be on the other team's best shooter most of the time...that is another strong point. Throw in Ashley's leadership, Tara's tenacity and good shooting, and Rachel W's ability to shoot the outside shot, once she gets some game experience, and Hannah Strop, and I like our chances again this year.

Very well put Jacks#1Fan. Every kid brings something to the table - working out some kinks and nervousness but in the long haul (March) we will be strong!
