Yes, you are right, they also have that annual North vs South all star game (all seniors on the rosters?), if they are selected and want to participate in that. College coaches must cringe and cross their fingers for their recruits to play well and avoid any injurys.

We talk about wanting that big post player , but after looking at this list it appears there are not many to be had in the Upper Midwest. I counted two 6'5" and three 6'4" out of the 200 players listed with none of them going to bigger programs. You see all the teams still playing having numerous 6'5 or bigger players but they must come from the coasts and southern US.

          Remember two things:
1: women over 6'4" are at the far end of the normal curve of height for women, and
2: The upper Midwest is a pretty small percentage of the U.S. population. The 5statehoops region is about 5% of the total U.S. population.

A good example, there's a 6'3" highly athletic post player, just helped Chipola College win the NJCAA championship, her name is Evelyn Akhator from Lagos, Nigeria. She's got noticed, offers from Fla, Fla St, USF, the article states ,"almost the entire Big 12,same with the SEC, including Tenn and SC ,Louisville offered too,the basketball world has come calling".The big guys got huge athletic budgets and they leave no leaf unturned. Not too many crumbs fall off the dinner table, nothing falls through the cracks, they've got all bases covered, they are everywhere, even our backyard if they're after someone they want. That's what we face, and it won't get easier till we can be just like them, as much as possible anyway.
I personally like our local flavor in picking recruits, but we are up against teams that comb the earth relentlessly for the best talent they can put on a basketball court. Frankly, we do pretty dang good for staying local I think, and more and more players are rewarding our supporting local players by staying close to home and choosing to play here.

I think if we want an athletic post player who matches up well with the big schools, we'll have to get her locally and convince her to stay home. We aren't going to get the players in Texas that matter to come here. We make the program successful and competitive, we can do that.

I often wonder how UConn players can get any sense of accomplishment when they are one of the best players in the country teaming up with the other best players in the country to go out and beat the competition by 50 pts.It kind of smacks of LeBron James and crew. Guess they don't like a challenge but they do like adoration (ESPN)quite a bit.Hope ND gives them a game at least, otherwise,it's boring per usual, UConn blowing someone out again. Same old script, oh joy.

Pierre's Sydney Palmer was named AA MVP of the 3 class shoot out after recording a double double....17 points, 11 boards.

When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

Sydney was the top vote getter for first team AA All State. Was also selected as the AA player of the year by the SD Coaches Association.

Will be interesting to see how the rivalry between Ena ,Northeast Community College, and USD's newest recruit Jasmine Trimboli ,Ia Western Community college, develops further as both move on into their respective Summit league teams to continue their rivalry.

Also, nice short clip of Ena in action overseas. https://bluestareurope.wordpress.com/
