  • Thanks to Sunny and Jill - Seniors 2012

It has been a pleasure to watch these two ladies compete for the Jacks. They will both go down as two of the all-time greats at SDSU and the teams that they have played on may very well have set a mark that is never touched again.

As good as they have been on the court, they are even better people in real life and will go on to impact many more people in the future!

Thanks for everything ladies! Best of luck in the Summit League Tournament! Let's get the four-peat!

I'm not ready to say thanks yet... I want at least four more games if not five or six.

I was thinking the same thing.

Just think what would have happened if Jill had stayed at Creighton. I'm so glad she changed her mind. Thanks Jill.

Great to watch the games with such leadership as provided by Sunny and Jill.Lead them to one more Summit League Tournament championship, and who knows what can be achieved after that.Even if they don't win one more game as Jackrabbits,we are blessed to have had two quality players like Jill and Sunny.Time for the Sunny to "shine" (?),and Jill's gonna Jill.

Jill Young is at 292 3's, and Anne Boese of IPFW at 301 3's for their on-going career 3's mark. IPFW, and by extension Ms. Boese will be done, likely on Sat. Jill should have a minimum of 4 more games, Hopefully, Jill can finish up with the career 3's mark in Summit history.

Sunny and Jill have provided many minutes of quality WBB to SDSU, and us fans. I look forward to a strong finish from these two leaders, and hope that they savor every minute of the remaining journey. The regular season close-out, and their Sr. night, could have hardly been any better.

I get nervous when people start taking conference tournament games for granted. Just sayin' . . .

Even if Jacks should fall in the tourney, they will be in the WNIT as auto-bid from Summit, so again 4 games, even if IPFW was to shock them. IUPUI might have a shot, if Jacks are cold shooting. NDSU, IMHO, doesn't have a prayer against the Jacks. Like IPFW is for SDSU men's, NDSU WBB is to the Jacks, just a HORRIBLE match-up to Jacks strength's and weaknesses. IUPUI "matches" Jacks better. Jacks success vs IUPUI at Brookings was largely due to getting their power big in quick foul trouble, forcing her to the bench for the majorities of both the 1st and 2nd half. The longer that she can play, the more problematic for the Jacks.

It's funny to read at Bisonville about how terrible the WBB is at NDSU, and the WBB ends up with a higher seed than their men's team.

Having an expectation and taking something for granted are different things. I would hope as Jackrabbit fans that we expect both teams to challenge for the tourney title and the auto-bid. I concur with rabid and look forward to Jill owning that record.

We have high expectations for the women in the SUmmit. Jill and Sunny have shown what they CAN do down the line. I like that UMKC and ORU have eliminate one or the other before Jacks have to play either. Very happy that USD isn't eligible this season, as Hegge has shown vs Jacks, that SHE CAN carry them to victory.

Hope USD gets to play in the WNIT as an at-large. They have a shot, but they are a bubble team. If there are a fair number of upsets, sending 120 RPI to the NCAA's, Yotes will miss out. Even if all holds steady Yotes are a bubble team to the WNIT. Jacks were in the same position in 06, got snubbed. However, that was a field of 48 to the WNIT, not a field of 64.

Sunny and Jill can provide the leadership and the skills to get the Jacks dancing again. If so, will they get any respect (12 or 13 seed) rather than a 15 seed, for being there consistently?

Lead the Jacks to the NCAA auto-bid, and where seeded will fall then.

Geez, it was Senior Night! Not trying to count chickens before they hatch or anything of the sort. Just saying thanks for the memories in Frost. THERE IS A LOT OF BALL TO BE PLAYED!!!

filbert, I agree with you. If you can't get Jacked up about this weekend then it probably isn't possible. Big games, big crowds, and a lot to play for! Going to be a blast!

I couldnt find the thread with the talk about youngs 3pt record and such so I figured I would put it here. doing the math she has 301. IPFW site doesnt have past season results but in the article after losing to us again it said Boese ended with 301. So that would lead me to assume if she makes 1 in the summit tourney she will have the record. If not atleast she is tied for it. Thats a a lot 3s between 2 players.

Boese and Young are tied at 301 3's made at the end of the Summit Tourney. Jill will be lone #1 with first 3 made in NCAA tourney in Summit League records. Jill already holds 3's record @ SDSU by about 40+.
