  • How the 11-12 WBB match with the other SDSU teams of the D-I era

Using Realtime RPI site, here's the results back to 2005-2006.

    Season D-I record RPI

    05-06 17-9 97
    06-07 20-5 33 WNIT At-large, to 1/4 finals
    07-08 22-6 60 WNIT Summit, lost 1st rnd
08-09 31-2 26 NCAA lost in 2nd rnd to Baylor
09-10 22-10 99 NCAA lost in 1st rnd to Oklahoma
10-11 19-13 121 NCAA lost in 1st rnd to Xavier
    11-12 11-7 77 TBD (record through 1/20/2012)

This team fits solidly into the middle of this amazing 7 years of D-I. IMHO, the Jacks are very likely to get to their 4th straight NCAA tourney, end up a 14 seed, and get assigned to a remote tourney site, where they will again play a #3 host, and get promptly out of the NCAA.

Jacks are on another solid run in the Summit. IMHO, they are likely to be #1 Summit seed, and either have 17-1, 16-2, or 15-3 record. At this point, only ORU can oust Jacks from #1, if they win all that they are supposed to.

This team is more grinders than runners. They win more on D, than from the 3. So not as pretty as earlier editions, but still a fabulously fun team to cheer on. Please note that the RPI of the Summit is about 17-18, rather than in the 20s of previous years, so it's a more balanced league than preceding years. Only the 08-09 team is heads n shoulders above the others, and they had the record to prove it.

Celebrate that we may have both the men's and women's top teams in the Summit this year. It's been too long since Jacks could say that, at any level.
