  • Cancun Challenge 2011

Just checked in for the flight to Cancun tomorrow. A good friend of mine works for Triple Crown and has been down there all week. Looking forward to attending a couple of the men's games tomorrow night and then Jackrabbit women's basketball Thur and Friday.

Jackrabbits play at 8 pm on Thanksgiving night against UCinn. Friday night is a 6:30 tip against Marist.

Looking forward to some relaxation interrupted by Jackrabbit basketball. Anyone else in route?

Two very tough opponents for the Jacks. Here's a little scouting report on each:

    Cincinnati (3-0)
Leading scorers: Reaves 5-6 Sr Guard (16.0), Hollins 5-6 Sr Guard (13.3), Chisholm 5-11 Sr Forward (12.3), and Cook 5-10 Soph Guard (9.7).
The Bearcats have seven girls that average playing more than 10 minutes per game. They force an average of 18 turnovers, while committing 18 turnovers.
    Beat Evansville (0-3) 64-30, Dayton (1-2) 75-64, and IPFW (without Rosado) 74-42.
This game will be extremely tough for SDSU. Hopefully we can use our size and depth as an advantage.

Marist (1-2) Don't let their record fool you. This is a good team.
Leading scorers: Yarde 5-8 Sr Guard (19.0), Ockenden 5-10 Soph Guard (8.3), Gang 6-2 Sr Forward (7.0)
Marist scores an average of 60.7 points per game and gives up 64.0.
    Beat Yale (2-1) 78-64 and lost to Villanova (3-1) 60-53 and Princeton (4-0) 68-51

I agree,Princeton (Princeton's beating everyone pretty handily) and Villanova are really good teams,so you can't take much stock in those two losses.

        Re: Cancun Challenge 2011

Cincinnati seems to be gaurd orientated,as the players in their three games this season with the most minutes logged, are all gaurds.Chisholm 5'11(she might be switched to playing F,as JamesJacks say's,but listed G on roster),Reaves 5-6,Cook 5-10, Hollins 5-6,Lovett 6-0 and one Forward, Turner 6-1.
That means their probably extremely quick, with Cincinnati playing in the Big East, with the likes of Louisville,U Conn, ND,etc.More pressure defense i would assume, but, if we can get the ball to our post players, they should have a good day.
They have a center at 6-4,Dunn, but she hasn't logged very many minutes in their first 3 games.

i'd be surprised if cincy isn't all over the jacks defensively. hope jacks are smart with the ball! could be an opportunity for lingle and sunny to have a good game.

Anybody know of a link to watch the games?
Reason I ask is I know when they played Maryland down there last time there was a feed. but can't find a link for it anywhere.

I'll go with the entire crew of post players could have good games. Sunnarborg is capable of having a big night every night. After that it seems the other posts take turns having a decent game. Will need all of them to make a difference inside on offense and defense today. Go Jacks!

                  Re: GDT: Cincinnati

On the radio they said the crowd is sparse...approx 50 people in the stands but most appear to be Jackrabbit fans: lots of blue and yellow.

                        Still 8-0 Cincy

Turnover problems...we can't catch our own passes.
