its happened before (like Baylor) but the refs in this game definitely kept Utah State in this game. horrible horrible horrible. but at least the ladies answered that adversity and overcame it.
What a game by Eide. Hope that is just the beginning and she continues to play with that much confidence. Sunnarborg is going to have to step it up inside or it's going to put a lot of pressure on the perimeter players.

1/3 of the Aggies' points were FT, and they shot about 75% FT, shooting about 40.
Middle Tn St is next. Another great mid-major, and always an interesting game for the Jacks.

Refs are human so they make mistakes. The most frustrating thing for me is when they control the pace of the game by interupting play with calls that aren't necessary. Take yesterday for instance, SDSU would have distanced themselves sooner had the officials not decided to start blowing the whistle on every drive and every contested shot. I mean on both ends. When two teams are competing as hard as they were yesterday keep the whistle out of your damn mouth and let the players play the game. The moron we had yesterday (I don't know his name but everytime I see him I know the officiating is going to suck) does this on a regular basis. He screwed up several calls in instances WHERE THE WHISTLE SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE BEEN BLOWN. Then, when the coaches appropriately questioned his competence he T'd up their coach and then Nagy a little later.
Stepping down from my soapbox now.
Then, all 3 started getting whistle happy. State would go on a run of 4 or 5 points and the next posession, regardless of the team, a whistle for a reach or block on a flop or body foul on a contested shot. That included a shot Griff made that got wiped away as a foul on the ground. There were 2 evenly matched teams on the court, don't insert yourself into the outcome as an official, let the players play.

What is up with Waytashek--Is she hurt or just not getting any playing time. Anyone know?
My understanding is the knee isn't fully ready.
I listened as best as I could today and was most impressed with Eide, Paluch and Lingle. They all had great games. Eide had 8 to's which is a little troubling. Jill didn't have her best game, she needs to value the ball a little bit more when she doesn't get a shot, she had 6 to's today. TO's are going to be the achilles heal of this team. SDSU should be able to match up well with most and shooting the 3 won't be an issue. TO's and FT's are going to be the differene makers.

well they had plenty of practice on the free throws today. they overcame the adversity of it and won but man that is hard, boring and frustrating watching and probably playing in a game with refs like that. I would as an AD request that those three dont work a game together again especially at my house.
The argument is always that players need to adjust to the officiating. But those officials were arbitrary and inconsistent throughout. The players have no chance when that is the case. I don't think the officiating affected the outcome (they were equally terrible both ways) but it destroys the flow of the game.
When will we get officials who recognize that women's basketball is a physical game? These are big, strong athletes. Let them play.
This is the type of game where you'd better be able to make free throws, because it was such a big factor in the game.Free throws are important, especially in a game where there are so many called.
Gosh I like this team. It isn't always a thing of beauty out there, but we are solid at all positions on the floor. This team could be (will be) very scary to deal with in March...but what's new

I thought the refs kept the aggies in the game by changing the way they were officiating about four minutes into the game. It kind of reminded me of when whe played Baylor and after a big run we couldn't breath with out fouling and baylor caught up by making almost every free throw they shot. In this game however we were just to strong offensively to be stopped and we were able to rebound against the aggies alot better. At one point the aggies had only three field goals and like 15 free throws. The refs made this one close in my oppinion.
