I was looking back last year to this year for the womens team. The one stat that I felt was a big part of how well last year and years before went compared to this year. last year we had 5 players avg over 35% on 3 pt and make more then 10 the whole year. As of right now we only have 3 players over 35% made and made 10 so far. over all it seems to be the total made 3pt percent is down a lot. I feel our inside game is keeping us aline but missing to many 3s. Maybe people feel there are a lot more to it but if we shoot just a little bit better on 3pters we are prolly 3 more games up in the confrence record. Some years live by the 3 other years die by the 3.

The stat that jumps out for me is 98 more turnovers than assists, and only two players (Macie and Steph) with more assists than turnovers.

This is what is different with this team compared to the successful ones that preceded it.

SDSU is 2-7 in games this season when they have 20+ turnovers. (The two wins coming against Utah Valley and at Western Illinois.)

In the last four games, SDSU hasn't had more than 15 turnovers and is 3-1 in those games.

Yep. You can't score when you don't get a shot and the other team can score more when they get more shots. Most games come down to a few key possessions and this years team has had a hard time executing during those key possessions. They have a chance to win it all but its not a great one and won't happen if they don't value the ball and execute better. It isn't quite a 180 for the men and women respectively but its close.

Last years team was a minus 75,and surprisingly even the 32-3 team had a few more turnovers than assists.

              Re: stats

The way we play leads to turn overs. Its been a problem for AJs teams no matter what, but this year your right, it sure seems more noticeable. Making less 3s and fewer offensive chances are not a way to win many.

                Re: stats

Some stats over the last 3 years and where we rank nationally out of approximately 335 teams.

                Stat............. 2008 /09.......... 2009/10.......... 2010/11

                3pters/Game....... 5.................. 13..................... 86

                3pt %............... 28.................. 8....................... 59

                Turnovers/Game.. 59................ 226.................... 208

                Turnover Margin... 24............... 143.................... 208

The 3 pters have fallen off a little bit, but the bigger issue is the turnovers. Our type of play will always have a few turnovers involved, but with that type of play you have to be able to create more. The biggest change over the last 3 years has been turnover margin....not only have we gotten sloppier but we haven't been able to generate the turnovers either.

                  Re: stats

I think one the problems (as compared to the past teams) is that a good share of our turnovers are not coming from pushing the ball. Its seems way too may of out turnovers are unforced.

Last year we were in the top 50 in many statistical categorys in the NCAA statistics. This year ,i want to say none, but not sure, maybe FG% we might be ranked. This years team doesn't do anything particularly well enough to get ranked in the top 50.That's the difference,we're middle of the pack performance wise.We didn't start out that way, but it just kind of snowballed and developed that way.Maybe tonights game will start a new trend.

To answer your question....this year we are 30th in FG%.

                      Last year we finished
                      22 in scoring offense
                      27 in scoring margin
                      6 in fg%
                      13th in 3 pt'ers per game
                      8th in 3pt fg%
                      12th in assists per game
