    Re: Oakland gdt

Gotta feel for Paluch. Two overtime games in a row and she gets the last second shots...one to tie and one to win! :O(
When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back.

The one Saturday really didn't have much of a chance. But give her credit tonight - she got in position and got off a good look, but it just wouldn't fall. Like I said earlier, she earned a chance for more minutes in the future.

I can handle losses. These young ladies are going to go on and accomplish much greater things in life than basketball. What I can't handle, and quite frankly will not put up with, is the lack of effort, desire, passion, energy, leadership, etc, etc that this team displays. It is embarrassing...period. AJ's post game comments were as 'frank' as I've ever heard, and you could tell he was still holding back.

Jennie Sunnarborgs answer to Tyler's question about the dissappointing play.

            "meh, it happens."

I wasn't real thrilled with that answer.

I did not hear the comment, but it does not sound good from an attitude point of view, but also did not hear Tyler's question. In her defense I suppose the question could have been a brutal one, and putting her on the spot during an interview is not helpful either. This has to be a very disappointing season for everyone concerned, maybe Tyler needs to be careful on how he does his post game interviews. We fans myself included are very frustrated and disappointed, and I am sure Jennie and her team mates are that too.

It looks like the team needs to regroup and try to salvage as much as they can. I think AJ has the summer to analyze what went wrong and what to do to correct it. AJ is still the best coach in the Summin in my opinion.

I had a similiar reaction. But then I watched Rotert and Schuttloffel on the postgame video, and it was obvious they were emotionally distraught - they were close to tears. Probably seniors who have been part of great success seeing this season slipping away - had to feel sorry for them. That being said, there still seems to be a state of denial that this team just isn't that good. It's tiring to continue to hear that this team has more talent than any they have played on,and that things will magically turn around if they just make a few more shots.

Good post. Just think, if Paluch's shot bounces in and the shot at Southern Utah bounces out, the Jacks would be sitting at 6-3. Throw in a winnable IPFW game and you could possibly be sitting at 7-2. But you are what your record says you are, and our record says we aren't very good

I think Tyler has stayed remarkably positive, probably moreso than warranted - but that is his job. He seemed shocked when TV came on the half-time show and stated the obvious - that the first 6 to 8 minutes of the game was the worst basketball he has seen while covering the Jacks.

TV's covered the Jacks since 2006-2007? So, I would agree, those first 8 min of the game were BRUTAL, and probably were the worst 8 mins that he's seen. Likewise, it was this team's parents generation since Jacks WBB has lost this many home games. Jacks need to regroup, and get the next game. I would prefer to see IPFW or Oakland again in the conference tourney than ORU. It may actually be beneficial if can't get the 2/3 seed, to be a 6/7 seed rather than a 4/5 seed.

That was a absolutely horrible game, yet the Jacks stayed with it and went to OT on both games this weekend, and couldn't hit FT to save themselves.

I heard the comment and it wasn't Jennie's best answer but I have to give her a pass. She has been a bright spot on the team this year and has given a consistent effort. You have to feel for her because I am sure she was looking at the loss being on her shoulders due to the missed FT's.

I've always thought postgame interviews after a loss are not a great idea but I am amazed at how well our kids in all sports handle them. Pretty classy bunch. She just missed FT's that probably cost the game and then you have a microphone in your face asking how you feel about that? How would you answer? Mine would have probably contained a couple of colorful metaphors.

AJ's comments were frank like others have said. He's obviously scratching his head. Practice is good but it isn't into the games. All they can do is keep battling and work harder and harder to try and turn it around.

I was hoping Saturday was the bottom point for this team. They just took another step down. My optimistic self says they will come out of this funk but it is getting harder to keep thinking that.

We have a lot of players with huge amounts of experience and that could be a real asset when the tournament comes around. Macie, Jill, Kristin, Jennie, and Jennifer have all been there and have great memories about playing in the Arena. Winning a tournament for the first time is hard to do. Once you win, you want to do it again ten times more than the first and the big thing is that you aren't afraid to go get it. Obviously, a big turnaround has to happen but there is still time. When they run onto the floor in Sioux Falls it may turn a switch on that we haven't seen all year.

One thing about our conference is that I haven't seen another team that has just wowed me like Oakland does on the men's side. ORU is the top team but they didn't look untouchable. If the Jacks turn it around anythng can happen in Sioux Falls.

C'mon ladies, we're pulling for ya!

"We're individually one of the most talented teams I've ever been a part of, but we don't have that ability to make big plays down the stretch," Rotert said.

We don't have the ability? Another poor choice of wording by the leadership of the team. Maybe, "We need to learn to make the big play down the stretch." Yikes! I'm usually pretty positive about all this stuff, but they need to get their heads on straight. They still can make the tournament, they need to just pull themselves together get some wins, some confidence, and win in March!

They both played over half the game.
I don't know if that will help this team out or not. Paluch was 3-3 on 3 pointers but other than that, they didn't hit much. They would be a combined 1-11 FG's, 0-2 3's and 0-2 FT's. They had 1 assist, 1 TO, 2 steals and 6 rebounds. The TO's, steals and rebounds aren't bad but the assists and shooting %'s aren't great. Both Paluch and Eide had shots that could have won the game. Paluch's was a tough runner but Eide's was a layup. They both are good players and will help this team but I don't know if they will turn things around or not.
Granted this was just 1 game.

Show me the talent.I'd like to see it by all the talented players all the time during a game against the top half of the conference.Otherwise, this statement by Kristin has a hollow ring to it.It's just her attempt to rally the troops for the rest of the season,........bless her soul for trying though.Unless this great group of talented players can put their talent to use and quit making HS mistakes (you're playing Div 1 basketball now ),the rest of the season will be a repeat of the first 1/2. I think deep down inside themselves they must know this. It's up to them to figure it out and play to their abilities.Gut check time.Otherwise they're cheating themselves and their fans of some great basketball.

I hope my expectations aren't too high for this team.
I'm reading things like "this team can still make the tourney" and "this team may lose out". I know the last 2 loses are tough but I wont go that far. The games were at home but they lost to the teams that are tied for 2nd in the league in overtime. In my opinion, they should have won both games. They lost by a total of 4 points(in overtime in both games) while NDSU lost to the same 2 teams by a combined 25 points. The 1st game they weren't in as good of a position to make plays but in the 2nd, they just didn't make them.
SDSU should win 4 or 5 of their next 6. They have home games against 3 teams they already beat and they only lost to Southern Utah by 1 point. I know the 1 point game scares me too with the way this team finishes games but at home it shouldn't be that close. They also play Centenary on the road. I think they still haven't won a game. The only game the "should lose" is the ORU game on the road. If I'm wrong about this, I'll eat crow but this is just how I feel.
