  • Injuries...

    Per TV Argus Leader:

Indicative of the way things have gone this season, South Dakota State women's basketball coach Aaron Johnston couldn't just talk about his team's first three-game win streak of the season Tuesday during a speaking engagement in Sioux Falls - he also had several injuries to discuss.

He hinted at two that are still being diagnosed, declining to go into detail pending some tests, and confirmed that freshman wing Megan Waytashek - a top-100 recruit - is done for the season because of a knee injury suffered at practice. She'll have surgery in the next 2-3 weeks...

So who/what are the two injuries other than Waytashek?

Hard to tell by looking at the box score from Monday - everyone on the roster played other than Waytashek. Macie seemed to be gimpy after some type of leg injury, but she played quite a bit after injuring it. Schuttloffel only played 7 minutes, which wasn't a lot in a blow-out. I guess it could be some on-going issues with Gabby's knee (hopefully not)

Lingle & Eide were both in boots at the men's game tonight. That is not something I wanted to see. We could be very short on players.

So let's see...that makes it Waytashek (out for year), Lingle, Eide, Dietel and Macie (lost approx 28 lbs during 'bout with the flu!) that are reportedly battling injuries. Good grief...the hits just keep on comin'...

Everything balances out . . . the 32-3 year was pretty magical, you knew that somewhere along the line we'd have a year like this.

The amazing thing is that, as bad as we all feel about how the women are doing, they're still a threat to make noise in the conference and in the tournament if some things come together. We have a quality program.

Let's hope they're playing soon. If we can get a healthy roster it would certainly help our chances.

Amen to this. I've been pretty disappointed in the general tone of people's attitudes on here regarding our women's program this year. Considering what they've done Jackrabbit Athletics, SDSU in general and the state of SD the past 5 years, they deserve better.

Things will be ok. Let's get to Frost on Saturday and Monday nights and show them we have their backs, despite all the turnovers, injuries and bad luck!

Uh oh, have we gone back to the shoes of 07-08 or whatever year that was?

Is AJ running a little tougher practice?

I am hearing that Eide will be available Saturday vs IPFW. Lingle will be out until as least Monday night.

But Megan Waytashek is out, out, out.

Others will need to step up during this homestand.
