Mental toughness... we just made a few to many mental errors at the end and couldn't buy a bucket...

Dang it we should have had this one...

Going to apologize for all the typos in my earlier typing and any shortening of names...lol Sunnorborg is just to long to type fast... so it is Sunny ( I am So Sorry)

                Jacks 3-3 on the year.

we went almost 4 mins the last four mins without a basket..

Strop on the interview... (She had big minutes tonight btw... not scoring but great D.)

Saying Fun to play in the atmosphere...
KState fought back hard, we relaxed a bit to much and thought we had it.

It was awesome to be out there as a freshman, take all the coaches say. be mental and physically tough.. take advantage of the opportunity.

NDSU coming in... former teammate that plays for NDSU

                  AJ's comments

We didn't make plays last 3 1/2 mins... couldn't get d rebound at end.. gave up uncontested three and layup... didn't make plays. Didn't take the shots... made to many passes when had open shot. D breakdowns.. last few mins killed us.

Nobody wanted the ball at the end.

You learn from making shots... their effort the last few minutes showed through we gave it up. Just a series of things...missing uncontested layups... setting bad screens.. To win games every basket counts in close games. Makes a big difference. Will keep working and get better.

We need to throw Jenny the ball more. She needs to want the ball more, right now she excels in games but we need to develop her to be a game changer. Couldn't get her back on the block at the end of the game.

Only to line 9 times... Not aggressive enough. We can't be tentative. Mistakes that cost us. We will work on that.

Strop gave good minutes tonight. Never gets rattled, makes the easy plays, makes the steps... we need that on the floor. She will see more time as it comes... she looked better less rattled than our juniors and seniors...

                  TM: asks about NDSU

AJ: they are playing good bb right now. Lost a couple close ones. Excellent PG with pieces around her for the first time in awhile. We haven't played best ball yet. get ready for first summit game.

Honestly, as much as we shot this one down our leg, I at least have optimism looking forward... after MTSU I wondered how they would respond and but for four mins. I would say they responded in a very positive way.

Dang, could have won this one, good effort, need to find our identity. Who can we count on to handle the ball? Who is going to make the big shot, get the big rebound, make the stop on defense? I think the players are still trying to figure that out.

                            Re: K-State GDT

K-State took 8 more shots at the basket than we did.
We shot higher % making 20-44.They made 18-52.
They made one more 3 ptr (6 of 21 to our 5 of 14) and 8 more foul shots.
                            Jacks 45+6 free throws =51,K-State 42+14 free throws =56.
We actually outscored them in fg's but fouled them too much.Turnovers relativly even at +3 jacks, rebounds,we out-rebounded by five.
They had 4 more steals ,they had 10, we had 6.
K-State had 4 more team rebounds 9 to 5 (rebound goes off opposing player out of bounds , no one really having control of the ball ?)
These stats show we were in the game and show vast improvement from the MTSU game.We still are putting ourselves at a disadvantage however by letting teams take more shots than we do.

If the part about nobody wanting the ball at the end of the game is true, that's kind of disappointing to me. We have some seniors and juniors that have a shooter's mentality that I would hope would want the ball in those situations. Of course, the other team also realizes that, but AJ made it sound like he wasn't happy with the effort at the end of the game.

This game is the mirror image of the IL St. game. Jacks at home, were down to a quality opponent, but scraped, fought, and hit baskets AT THE END, and pulled out a tight win against a quality opponent.

At K-State, Jacks were the quality on the road team. Came out firing, and took a big lead. But the home team figured out a way to scrap back in, and shut down the Jacks. On the road, Jacks need to have the mentality to take that lead, and never let the other team back in.

This was an imminently winnable game. But one that came up an L. Jacks need to get these figured out and won. Sunny and Rotert are/should be our leader. And if she's hot, Jill Young needs to rain the 3's.

Jacks will need to start winning these, or even if make the NCAA, it'll be as an 11-13 seed, and I'm not certain that SDSU is ready to take out a top 10 team, yet.
