    2023 Season

    What is going on with volleyball this year? Per http://ncaastats.figstats.net/volleyball-rpi.cgi, SDSU's RPI is at 330 (out of 344 teams) as they head into conference action. I know Crystal Burk graduated and Ella Thompson transferred, but didn't expect such a drop off. They had been trending upward since Georgalas became head coach, but something appears off so far this year. Have heard the team has been hampered with some injuries, but I don't follow it enough to know any details.

      Difficult road schedule and zero home matches due to Frost renovations probably has a lot to do with it.

        We’ve had a lot of close sets and leads of 5-10 points in sets that we have blown. I think a lot of it is still just young players and figuring out the right rotation. I like our coach and our players. Just still trying to find an identity. I think we are better than our record shows with a lot of potential but it’s going to be a battle to get to the top of a good conference.

          The non-conf season was rough but Jacks start out the conference slate with a 3-0 win over St Thomas. Good comeback from behind in the third set to win it. I keep forgetting how young this team is. Hope they continue to gel and grow as they get into conference play.

            Who attended the volleyball game in Frost? How did the progress look?
            Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

                We have got to stop giving up leads. I know we are young and have a short bench but more often than not, we have blown lead after lead this year. Set point for us only to be lost and allow NDSU to come back and take the first set. Ugly season so far.
