gonna give this one away it seems((
2 more walks to the first two batters in the 3rd
    2 more WPs
Missouri gets their first two hits and scores 2 runs so far
Culver saved one run throwing a runner out at the plate from LF after Missouri got their first hit of the game

runner on 3b with 2 outs. Missouri batter fouls off 3 pitches with 2 strikes (second batter of the inning to foul off 3 pitches with 2 strikes) Lasey gets a grounder to SS and we get a error by 1b

    4-0 Missouri
so far we have gotten 8 outs in this game and we have
    7 BB
    5 WP
    1 error
gonna need a bit of a miracle to knock off the #11 team in the country when we give them that much help

got out of the 2nd giving up just one run so far despite all the BBs and WPs
also Shannon has not allowed a hit yet

Jarecki started the 3rd with a base hit. Barnard and Emma O down on Ks and Mia caught stealing to end inning

Barnard hit her 3rd triple of the season in the 1st
she is on pace for about 20 triples at the moment. I am guessing that would be a very rare accomplishment in D1 softball history

Tied at zero Missouri batting in bottom of 2nd

Lacey is REALLYYYYYYYY struggling with command. walked FIVE batters already and has only gotten 4 outs. also has 2 WP, although not being able to see or hear the game, I am going to give her some benefit of the doubt. WPs could be due to having Conklin catching for the first time ever for the Jacks

we need Shannon to find her A game. we showed yesterday we are capable of beating a team like Missouri but we cannot be giving them multiple free passes every inning

Jacks go 1 and 1 in Texas today.

in the second game vs top 15 ranked Missouri they faced Laurin Krings. she was the D1 Pitcher of the Week for opening week
last week Krings pitched 3 complete games in the Tigers opening week beating Liberty, top 15 ranked Utah, and top ten ranked (#5 in some polls)
she allowed a single run in two of the games and 6, 7, and 10 Ks

the Jacks only struckout 3 times had 5 hits and scored 2 earned runs in 5 innings vs Krings. 2 runs is usually not going to be enough to win against a good teams. they did put up another run against the next pitcher

moral victories are not enough, but this was a solid performance. hopefully the Jacks continue to take steps forward. they need to pick up some wins against the ranked teams on the schedule and stop dropping games to other teams

Jacks have Missouri again tomorrow at 11am. I would not be surprised at all if Krings is in the circle again.
The Jacks finish in Texas with 2 games against North Texas U, tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning

Started both games on opening day for Creighton today in TX. Batted cleanup in both games and went 1 for 5 with no Ks. another former Jacks commit, Mikayla Chairez from Missouri pinch hit for the Jays in the second game and went one for one

time will tell, but my guess is Schultz proves to be a very good player

Kamryn Meyer back for a final season at UNO won her opener today vs Butler, complete game with 3 hits and 14 Ks. Jacks and Mavs play the final series of the season May 2 and 3 in Omaha
    follow up on Kaelan Schultz
CU played 5 games last week she got on base 8 times (5 hits 3 BBs) she was named the Big East freshman of the week. would be very interested to know why she was unable to get a single AB for the Jacks last year

after the 20 point onslaught in the opener, the Jacks have followed it up with 3 runs in the next two games.

down in the night game vs host school Fresno Jacks came back with 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game up and take it to extra innings. A Williams relieved Lacey to start the 6th inning. she retired all six batters she face in the 6th and 7th. she retired the first two in the 8th to make it 8 batters in a row, but she gave up a two out double and then a line drive to left center to let the winning run score for Fresno

Lacey struggled a bit giving up nine baserunners (5 hits, 4 BB) in 5 innings, but spread them out enough and battled and held Fresno to just the two runs. hopefully the Jacks will find their bats tomorrow. they play at 11am and again at 1:30 to finish up the California trip before heading to North Dallas for 5 more games next week

seems beyond likely we get a starter not named Kniesche in the circle for the first time in the 2024 season, gotta imagine we see Lacey in the circle.

also seems likely Dumont will not catch back to back. will she stay in the lineup? will there be any other lineup changes?
silly me!! shoulda said possible not likely. same lineup from last night. Dumont back behind the plate

dont know what the deal was with Culver. maybe it was just a live stat error and she never came out of the outfield

well here is the first example this year of what i believe is very bad strategy
Emma leads off with a walk
we take the bat out of Roz hands and have her bunt. i dont think Roz has struck out yet this year. maybe she had one yesterday. but she made good contact yesterday and no Ks so far today. if she gets just a little good luck and the ball finds a hole Emma goes first to third. then we have a runner on 3b with no outs where you can score without a hit

if you have a runner on second with no outs, bunting is a good strategy! they can score from 3b without a hit. but giving up an out to move them to second gets you nothing. you still need a hit to score them. and it makes the least sense when you are asking your best hitters to bunt instead of giving them a shot to hit the ball to the fence

btw of course Emma was stranded at second when neither Jocelyn or Boyle got a hit

i honestly do not believe we scored a single run last year by bunting a runner from first to second where they would not have scored anyway, meaning they scored when another hitter hit an extra base hit which would have scored them anyway even without the bunt

TK still in the circle in the top of 6. given up one hit and one BB, struck out 10 thru 5

at bat the jacks have just the two hits. 8 Ks, 3 BB
two Ks each for Jocelyn and Brooke D
Roz, Emma O, A Williams the only Jacks with at least 2 ABs and no Ks

well, i am not sure i trust the live game updates, but apparently Culver went back to LF

also Williams walked her second AB. pinch runner, then Boyle entered for the pinch runner and played 1b in the top of the fifth

Jacks with only two hits thru part of the fifth, both by Emma O

Jacks score a run in the 3rd

apparently after Culver batted in the second, I believe she Kd, we moved Culver from LF to DH and moved Leadoff batter and DH Barnard from DH to LF

seems VERY VERY ODD you would move your LF to DH after two innings. it will be interesting to see if we ever get an explanation, or if Culver even comes to bat again today. seems pretty likely that an injury is part of the story
