Jacks earn a split on the final day of the UNI Dome Tournament
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – South Dakota State started the second and final day of the UNI Dome Tournament looking for its first win of the season, which they got, but not before starting the day with a loss to North Dakota State.
After starting the season with a pair of losses on Saturday to Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois, the Jackrabbits fell into a 1-0 hole after one inning against the Bison on Sunday.
The Jacks got that run back in the second though, when Brittany Postma led off the inning with her first career triple through the right side. Steph Kuhl followed that with an RBI single to center to get the Jacks on the board and tie the game at one.
But that run accounted for all of the Jacks scoring while the Bison added three runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to secure the 6-1 win and send SDSU to its third straight loss to open the season.
Jenna Marston (0-1) went the distance for the Jacks, giving up 11 hits while striking out three and walking two.
