As for the holdren situation, I heard yesterday afternoon from a reliable source that he had torn his ACL. I was hesitant to post, but unless you have a ton of posts or a ton money like SDSUFAN. I don't understand the over reaction. The Posting Elite on this board need to come down of their high horse and take a break.
Oh come now!!! I was just trying pull your chain a bit or something. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I too, heard the news on the sports show on KJJQ. Not good news, but these injuries happen and how a program regroups is always a sign of character.

Let me start by reaffirming that one’s contribution level to the program has no bearing what so ever on one’s  ability to voice their opinion on this board.

Next, becasue you are a newer poster perhaps you are unaware of some of the issues this board has had in the past with "rumors".  People have come on this board and posted that just about everyone of note in our programs (including the Coaches) are going somewhere else.  It got so bad that on one occasion a player was forced to have a conversations with his coach and come on this board to defend himself.  This is not good.

      Thus my posting of:

I don't want this board to turn into a rumor mill.  If you have something to post that you know (or believe) to be true based on solid sources that is one thing  .  .  .  if on the other hand your source is not solid or you don't believe that source, but you "heard something" well maybe this isn't something you want to put on the board.  This is especially true when it comes to peoples lives.  Please be careful what you post.

If you talked with Coach Nagy, Steve himself, Dr. Oien, whomever you believe is a solid source then post away and be prepared to stand behind your post (no need to reveal your source, just using those three as examples of solid sources).  If however your source is Mary from Western Civ. class who heard from Bill in the Union, who knows Mike who is second cousins with Tim who is friends with Steve Holdrens old roomate .  .  . well maybe that doesn't belong here.  I leave it up to the individuals to figure out who is a good source and who isn't.  However if one's source proves wrong a greater scrutiny will apply in the future.  All I am asking is that people be careful with what they post.  Especially when dealing with someones personal matters.

Backs and knees. God's biggest design flaws. Or maybe it's our fault for standing up in the first place all those years ago. Anyway, I hope he's on his way back sooner than later. I'm assuming he'll get the knee done by the crew in Sioux Falls. If so, he's in good hands. They have an extensive collection of CT Scans, etc for both of my knees, back, neck, etc. Also, Boo will get him in a good rehab program through the training department (a great program that often generally goes unnoticed by all but the athletes on campus).

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Nagy said because Holdren did not play in more than 20 percent of SDSU's games before Jan. 1 that he should be granted the hardship. Since Holdren played last year as a true freshman, the injury hardship would allow him a chance to play for the Jacks in 2008-09, the first year they are eligible for the NCAA Tournament.

"There are some positives," said Nagy, who admitted feeling bad for Holdren. "It just doesn't feel like it right now."
I hadn't thought about Steve now having the possibility of playing on a tournament-eligible team as a senior, but that is definitely a silver lining in what right now looks like a dark cloud.

I hope the rest of the team sees this as an opportunity and steps up. I'm taking the view that this will cause us to have a better team, both this year and next year.

                      Re: Holdren to undergo MRI

I wonder how bad the tear is? Will they be able to repair the existing ligament or will he need a graft? (rhetorical questions)

I don't really see a need to clarify my previous post but I will for the benefit of all of those who appear to invest way too much in what is posted here. I was providing information, not speculating. I knew one of the conclusions I made would come true and it has.

Good luck to Steve has he undergoes surgical repair of his ACL. He should regain full function and be just as great a player next year as he was this year. If elegible for a med RS he deserves it.

                        Doc:

As long as you dont send bills, I appreciate your free rhetorical questions and educated comments. I think you are a doctor or something. ;D ;D. I just can't leave that "or something" phrase alone. Its very catchy, helps disguise my old age. ;D

At least you know what to ask and what you think would be going on. Thats a great deal more than most of us know.  I regret that Steve went down, but thats the risk of being a good athlete knees and ankles are vulnerable parts of the body.
