  • Holdren to undergo MRI

The Brookings Register is reporting (as part of their game coverage from Monday) that Steve Holdren will undergo a MRI today. I would guess we will get an update before the Marquette game.

    http://www.brookingsregister.com/mai...05&page=25

. . . SDSU was dealt another blow when swing forward Steve Holdren suffered a knee injury after making a layup which cut the Titan lead to 38-23 with 4 minutes, 1 second remaining in the first half.
Holdren came down on his left knee wrong. He was wincing in pain as he lay on baseline. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test is scheduled for Wednesday here in Brookings. . . .

    Best of luck to Steve.

    Go State! ;D

Ligament vs cartilage/meniscus injury is what they are trying to determine. MRI result will lead to one of 3 decisions; immobilization with rehab and no surgery, arthroscopic surgery or an open procedure.

Could be 4-6 weeks, could be lost for the year. Steve should know more later today.

Yes Jackmd is a Doctor or something. Are you a student or something? ??? In the handle "md" stands for doctor of medicine. In fact the board should pay for his advice, Mr. Something.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Where is your money? You have to put it where your mouth is or something. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I am that guy and I am not a doctor or something, just an old retired foggey.

SD-STATE, I am picking up the not so subtle theme you seem to be posting today on many threads.  Let me refresh for you my stand on rumors.

I don't want this board to turn into a rumor mill.  If you have something to post that you know (or believe) to be true based on solid sources that is one thing  .  .  .  if on the other hand your source is not solid or you don't believe that source, but you "heard something" well maybe this isn't something you want to put on the board (I/E what the "Little Birds" are saying).  This is especially true when it comes to peoples lives.  Please be careful what you post.

This doesn't seem that hard to me.  However, if this is too difficult to live with then perhaps you would be happier on another board.  If you need further clarification please feel free to PM me.

            SD-STATE:

I don't see JackMD's post as speculation/rumor, but as informed opinion regarding possible results of Holdren's MRI. Seems to me what JackMD's comment boils down to "he might be done for the year, or he might not." JackMD just knows the medical-speak for saying that.

One thing that Holdren's injury does is allows/forces some of the other young players to step up and contribute more. I think we saw that the other night with Cadwell stepping up. From other posts, it sounds like Gilbert was starting to get his game together, too.

While you never want to see one of your stars go down, in the long run *for this team* that might not be such a bad thing.

            Go Rabbits!

              Re: Holdren to undergo MRI

If Holdren has to miss any significant time I hope he can apply and be granted a medical redshirt. This would give Holdren,Cadwell and Gilbert three more years together. I'm sure Steve will be getting a lot of good advice on what the proper steps are that will insure his longterm health.

                Re: Holdren to undergo MRI

It was reported this morning, on the Brookings radio station, that Steve tore his ACL and is out for the season.

Nagy said they would go to more of a structured offense.

Not good news for Steve or the Jacks. I wonder if Yackley will have his redshirt pulled as assume he is slated as a small forward?

I guess I don't see that as anything even resembling a rumor or even as speculation about a specific person's injury. JackMD is giving us sound medical information that would apply to anyone who had just suffered a knee injury. I appreciate the information, even if SD-STATE doesn't.

And it's terrible news that Holdren has an ACL injury. All I know is that he's a tough kid and will no doubt work his rear end off to come back better than ever.

                      Re: Holdren to undergo MRI

I guess I didn't see any way that SD-State was implying that.

Maybe this is coming from another thread, but to me it seems like those that responded to his comment are the ones over-reacting.

It was obvious to me that his first comment was sarcasm and was recognizing JackMD as a doctor.

Also it seems that he was saying many on campus are talking about Holdren, but he's making a point to not spread rumors. Good for him.

Sorry if I'm off the mark, but I hate to see everyone jump on a guy when they are the one's that seem to be off the mark.

South Dakota State will play at Marquette on Saturday without one of its top players.

Sophomore Steve Holdren suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Monday night’s loss to Cal State-Fullerton at Frost Arena in Brookings.
Ron Lenz, SDSU’s sports information director, said Holdren had an MRI on Wednesday that revealed the tear. Lenz said Holdren will be re-evaluated on Tuesday to determine whether he will miss the remainder of the season.

That's a big bummer. Hope he heals up for next year. I think Nagy deserves some awards for everything he's had to deal with the last 2-3 years.

My doctor comment was purely sarcasm, based on an obvious doctor and very doctor-ish post, I'll have to work on my humor.

As for the holdren situation, I heard yesterday afternoon from a reliable source that he had torn his ACL. I was hesitant to post, but unless you have a ton of posts or a ton money like SDSUFAN. I don't understand the over reaction. The Posting Elite on this board need to come down of their high horse and take a break.
