  • Thanks, Kai Garrett & Mark

    Seriously.

I know a few moms visit this board, so pass the message on for me.

You guys stuck it out, and played to the best of your ability in a difficult situation. And that says far more about you than what happened in the last game you played.

So, from a guy who cheers for the Jacks but knows you can't win 'em all, thanks.

...3 warriors that will go on to achieve bigger and better things in life. SDSU basketball is better for having those 3 come thru the program.

Wish there could have been more games this year and they could come back for one more year. It's been fun watching the 3 of you for the past 4 years and thanks for being a Jackrabbit!

These three guys are classy and have been major contributors to Jackrabbit history. Kai and Garrett, especially, have been fun to watch because they rank with the all-time greats in program history. Thanks, fellows.

It has been fun over these past four years watching these three guys play and getting to know them as well. They did alot for the Men's Basketball program and will be missed dearly. But current and future Jackrabbits Men's players can see what these 3 did for the program and continue to improve.

Re: Thanks, Kai Garrett & Mark

My thanks also. Its seems like our seniors are barely mobile when they finish their last game. Garrett with his back spasms, Kai with his brace etc. It goes to show that basketball is hard on the body especially the feet for some. ie Bill Fisher, and Briam Floom come to mind. Something tells me that a Nagy practice takes a lot out our guys, but then there are also those who wonder where is Kai and Garrett and why did they not score 30 pts each? DO You suppose the opponent might have something to do with that? Such as two and three timing them on defense? I am please with both guys and their performance has been against the toughest competition that SDSU has faced in history. They are indeed pioneers for SDSU.

Well Mark is probably in the best of health of the three, but no doubt he has gotten his share of pushes and shoves during his playing time and had he came in here with more skills, I am sure his body would reflect the extensive playing time that Garrett and Kai now reflect. Mark might too be worried about concussions and sprains and what have you.

Good luck to all in whatever their path leads them. You are without a doubt real gentlemen and were perfect representatives for SDSU on the basketball court.

Re: Thanks, Kai Garrett & Mark

It's amazing to me that playing as really the only two scoring options on this team, and against he toughest competition we've ever played, Kai and Garrett leave as top-ten scorers. And Kai is #2 all-time in rebounding. That's just incredible, especially considering how beat up they got over the years. And Mark Engen just kept working, never gave up, and contributed a lot to the team in ways we never saw, finally having a game-time impact this year.

We moved from 10th to 7th to 4th in three years. And those three guys deserve much of the credit for that.

Thanks to Garret, Kai, and Mark.
                Holy nutmeg!

Re: Thanks, Kai Garrett & Mark

I have had the chance to get to know all three of these gentleman off the court and they couldn't be better people. They will go and do big things in life!

Kai and Garrett have probably played as many minutes as any Jackrabbits in history and leave in the top 10 in scoring and Kai the #2 rebounder. Pretty good stuff on the court as well.

It's a shame the game last night didn't turn out the way we wanted but it was great to see these three guys go out playing great games. The drives to the bucket from Garrett and that thunderous dunk from Kai will be images I will always remember!

Thanks for laying a foundation down for the teams to come at the D1 level. A lot of class has been shown by all three of these men.

Best wishes in whatever lies ahead and I hope we will see you all back in the future for events as fans!

My worst regret of the weekend, worse than the highly audible "rebound the effing ball" that came out of my mouth with 1:00 to go in the men's game yesterday, was Saturday.

I was walking in the hallway of the arena with my two year old and saw the Williams family. We walked by them and didn't say anything. I walked up to my seats rethought my decision and walked back down and they weren't there. I so regret not stopping and thanking not only Kai, but the whole family for everything they've given SDSU in the last 4 years. And also letting my two year old give Kai "5" which she got to do with Ketty, Kristen and Jill that night which she was still talking about on the way to daycare this morning.

Mrs. Williams, if and when you read this, thank you thank you for having such a great player and great person be part of the Jackrabbit family.

Re: Thanks, Kai Garrett & Mark

I told my aunt when we were up in Frost for senior night double header against IUPUI that Kai and Garrett years from now when the Jackrabbits are a successful Division I basketball team year in and year out that Kai and Garrett are the guys that will be brought back at half court and applauded for getting us to this level. They both sacrificed a lot and literally gave of themselves to get the program through transition and become a legitimate Division I team.

We still aren't where we want to be, but they got us to the launching point. Thanks guys and I wish you the best success as you leave SDSU for bigger and better things.

Confession time: I believe a "call the damn foul" escaped my lips at one point in the second half.

I join in the general gratitude offered to our seniors for staying the course through some very tough times--while they didn't bring us completely out of the tunnel, we can now definitely see the daylight from here--something that we couldn't really say when they decided to become Jackrabbits. In a lot of ways, what they've done at SDSU has been more difficult than winning a championship would have been. It takes somebody special to stay with it through all the adversity, and go out fighting just as hard as when you came in.

                          Thanks, guys!

You guys are the epitome of a Jackrabbit. You suffered more than any Jackrabbit before you - ever. You stuck together through thick and thin and have led us to new heights. We have not yet reached "the Summit", but it is now within view. You made us all proud to wear the colors and trudge through the snow, fog and rain to watch you play.

You will graduate and move on to great things because of all that you have sacrificed. You can go anywhere from here....but you can always come home. Thanks for the memories!
