Of course, that isn't how the Jacks play so sit down coach.

Did anyone else think that every time ORU was fouled in the act of shooting, the shot went in? The Jacks didn't have a lot of fouls, but it seemed like all of them were for a chance at a 3 point play.
yes i agree we gave up a ton of and one plays, if we gonna foul we better make sure we fouled them hard and not give up the basket. we also had plenty of easy looks that did not fall in. despite this we stayed focused and won the game, something we would not have done last year.

I agree. I was feeling bad for Tony because of his first shots of the night rolling out of the basket. I don't know how many times each game I see a shot make it part way down then spin back out.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

That is correct 1968. ORU was started in 1963 so they had been around only five years and I checked the media guide and SDSU played ORU on January 24, 1968 in Brookings. I suspect they needed money for their budget and SDSU offered a guarentee of some kind.

The score was 92-83 and they played in the Barn no doubt. I was in the US Navy at the time so I know I missed that one.

The game program last night said it was indeed in the Barn.

Maybe he puts too much spin on the ball, just lay it up with little or no "spin".It's on the mark, just "spinning out"...maybe he can make that adjustment...just a thought.I saw Becky Hammon on TV going up for a lay up & right before she released it she put some kind of back spin on the ball it looked like to me.She made it, but i alway's wondered why she did that, never seen that done before, but i think she practices for hours at a time, maybe she found a better way, who knows.I don't know if anyone has noticed too, that it seems the higher up on the backboard you place a bank shot, the less the ball bounces out from the glass ,unless, of course you heave it really hard.A high arching bank shot, by the way, comes in handy when your confronted all of a sudden by a much taller defender close to the basket & the only "shot" you have a chance on making is the high arching bank shot. There's all kinds of shots that should be practiced for different game situations. You can get good on a variety of different shots if you practice enough of them.Put more weapons in your arsenal so to speak.I saw a you tube video of Pistol Pete against George Girvin (sp)i believe in a game of h-o-r-s-e.Givin had a very nice, high off the glass shot from the corner that he obviously practiced a lot, but the Pistol pervailed with his sitting on the floor shot or jumping out from underneath the basket from the out - of - bounds shot.

They were jump shots. Should have said that in my earlier post.

Then his shot is just far enough off the mark where it just catches the inside of the rim, riding it around until it hits hard enough on the inside after it's slowed down enough to pop out.Sometimes it pops out, hits the bang board, & falls back in, sometimes not.

After the game I saw the ORU player that injured his ankle headed for the bus. He couldn't put any weight on it. Hate to see that. I wished him the best and hoped it wasn't serious.

As for the game, it just proves that we can play with anyone when the team gives 100% effort in a game. Everyone played hard! Rebounding is about effort and we DOMINATED in that category. The post above says it best. When they win the battle on the boards they win and they lose whent they don't. If they take that to heart and apply it to every game moving forward this will become a good season. If not, more of the same.

My hope for this game was to see strong effort from everyone. Needless to say I was quite pleased.

Hopefully more of the same Saturday night!
