The Jacks women's bb team hang together, yes, but they also go out of their way to be friendly, especially to kids. They involve themselves with the community in projects and are approachable.
The mens team as far as I can tell just from watching them and how they carry themselves have a certain don't come near me look. I don't know how they are in person because I only get to see them live once a year. As far as getting out in the community I never read on gojacks that they are doing anything to get involved with the community except for Nagy and the shoe thing.
Any way, who wants to see and cheer for someone if they are going to be snobs to you the rest of the week.

Nagy choked up on the radio talking about Kai last winter, after he got his thousandth point in that comeback game against Oakland. I think the players see that side of Nagy, but I don't think they expect to see that during the games.
As far as the players having the 'too cool' attitude, I've picked up that vibe as well---but that, IMO, is a stereotypical MBB attitude not confined to SDSU. If one might observe that baseball players tend to carry the lowest GPAs, on average, one might note that the MBB players tend to be a bit aloof.
But, to turn that around, the baseball schedule is BRUTAL, and most basketball players are at least a size and a half too big for the world around them--who knows how much of that standoffishness comes from being, well, big.

First of all, the i get a monthly news letter and there is usually an article about some school, church, or other event the team attends. I just received one 2 days ago and it had pictures and an short article about the men visiting a church in Brookings, serving dinner, washing dishes, and playing games with the kids. This is nothing new for a Nagy team.
Second, i've found the players very approachable, well spoken, humble young men. I'm THRILLED to have these kids represent SDSU.
Before you or any others here attack these guys character, i suggest you sit down and visit with them. You will find that the players are just as upset about some of their performances as you.

I would think you could talk to plenty of students that would say they are great people to do be around and are the complete opposite of what you labeled them.

Re: Crowd Size
I'm more interested in seeing how the players come out tonight than hashing/rehashing how they've approached the scorer's table in the past, or various fan's informed or ill-informed opinions thereof.
I think how the guys come out and play tonight will tell us a lot about what we can expect the rest of the season.
My guess--totally uninformed--is that they may have heard a level of . . . shall I say . . . unease with their performance this week that some of them--especially the younger players--may not have heard at any time in their basketball careers.
I know my reaction if I was in their situation would likely be to grit my teeth, come out tonight and try my damndest to prove all of the . . . uneasy people . . . wrong (or, if you will, mistaken in their unease). I hope that's what we see tonight and for the rest of the year.
We will see shortly."I think we'll be OK"

I didnt label anyone, just repeating what someone else said. I'm through with this thread. I'm sure they are great guys, but there is a problem and I hope they work it out.

Re: Crowd Size
We saw last night that they can all hustle and play with the kind of energy we are used to seeing from Grif and Dale. If they can maintain that, or feed off of the players who seem to always bring it, we'll be fine.Holy nutmeg!

Re: Crowd Size
I would encourage the people who question the players commitment to the program go watch Coach Nagy's post game press conference on gojacks.com from last night. He had some pretty interesting things to say.“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson

Re: Crowd Size
It is good to hear some of the things the coach talked about. He said something along the lines of "even if we hadn't won the game, we will live with whatever happens if we always get that effort." (paraphrasing there). Good for him, has usually only talked about the winning or losing. He is right to focus on the effort and toughness each night out. Get the guys truly doing it for each other on a consistent basis and good things will happen more often than not. Please guys, don't let last night be a one night thing, buy into it and believe in it and you will be amazed at what you can get done. Congrats to the coach and to the guys, they played for each other, and a funny thing happened, they won the game. Very happy for the Jacks program.
