It's 12:03, so I'll start the SW Minnesota game day thread.

Common opponent in Dakota State. SDSU won 72-58 in an exhibition and SW Minnesota State won 82-47. They were highly rated in DII until losing to Minnesota State and I think they'd probably be somewhere in the third quartile if they played a Summit Schedule-- maybe sixth or seventh.

I'll pick the Jacks by less than ten.

What?!!! Why would you no longer be highly rated after falling to the juggernaut that is MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO! SMSU should have actually had their ranking increased for stepping on the same floor as them imo

Southwest State is very good. I don't expect the Jacks to lose this year however. Jacks win 80 - 71. Does this game count as an actual win since SWSU is D2?

It might hurt the Jacks chances of an at large birth (LOL), but I think all non-exhibition games including Mayville and SMSU count for W-L purposes.

No question a win vs SMSU gets them back on the bubble.

I'm am glad that we are playing them in a regular season game this year rather than an exhibition. My reasoning is that Nagy plays exhibitions games quite a bit differently than regular season games, and when you play a good DII team like SMSU in an exhibition, embarrassing loses can happen (one team treats it like an exhibition and the other treats it like a post season game, which is always a recipe for an upset). I think we will win this handily and maybe even run up the score a little to exact some revenge.

Seriously, I'd be crazy if I said we were favored to win. Its obvious that the Bunnies should be favored, but hey, they were last year too. Thats why they play the games!

Lived in Denver for a short time in 1965 before moving to St. Louis (many other places in between). First time I saw the Cardinals play they were defending world champions and dropped a game to their Bears farm club. Think it was about 8-2 or something. The adrenaline flows when you're playing up a notch.

I can attest to that. As a tennis player my freshman year I was hanging close to the top guys when we played, I always played better the better people I played. When I played people closer to my ability or less then I would play closer to them. coach could not figure out how I beat guys I should beat just barely, yet barely loose to the top 2 guys while they just rip up the lower seed guys they played. In basketball match ups that are good for one team are a weekness the next team they play, but thats what makes sports fun figuring out those match ups.
