  • 5 games in, what do you want to see?

Here is what I would like to see...

    - I would love to see our "big four" be a little more consistent.

    - I would love to see someone step up off the bench. Palarca is solid off the bench and we know what we get. Moss is also pretty solid and a good contributor. Only problem w/ thise two is no outside shooting. I would love to see Grif or White step up and then a big like Fiegen or Rader or Cassaday give AC a solid 8-10 minutes on the bench.

    - Intensity. We really seemed to take it to Wyo and Purdue. Is it a coincidence that those were our two best games of the year?

    How about "consistent intensity?"

Play everybody like they're Purdue or Wyoming--at least until you've hung a 40-point lead on them. Then you can ease up. A little. (Stop shooting the 3 so much, be a little more deliberate on offense, that kind of thing.)

Get a "killer instinct." Attack. Always, always, always attack, until the game is over. Then shake hands with the other team and get ready to do it again.

The ability to hold on to a lead for a victory.

        "Intensity"

The weird thing with intensity is, it needs to be CONTROLLED intensity. I don't know how many times we've attempted to "turned it up a notch" on offense (underneath), only to turn the ball over on an offensive foul.

        That's what's frustrating to me.

I'd agree on the intensity recommendation. The defensive intensity was good for about 25 minutes vs. Denver. Those 15 minutes of lackadaisical play really hurt in that one.

But I just have this sense that we're still in a feeling out period for lineups and roles. Once everybody settles in, I think we're going to be pretty good. AC, Clint, and Garrett are going to get their points. I think Kai will, too, once he gets going. It seems like he's still not himself after that early injury. The question will be who else wants to score and rebound. I'd like to see a lot more of Fiegen, White, and also Rader. They seem like they really want the minutes.

The biggest deal, though, is that Wolters has been a great addition. He's the real deal. Having Wolters take the majority of time at the point means that Palarca offers great energy as a change-up.

I'm still very optimistic. Given all the new players, I'm primarily interested in how we play in the conference season and, of course in the conference tourney.

That intensity needs to start with the introductions of the starting lineup. The Jackrabbit men's team comes onto the floor like their going to the post office to mail their monthly alimony check. Other teams are high fiving and having fun. Pick it up gentlemen and we will be just fine.
