    Re: GDT--Boston College

We didn't make any shots and they crushed us on the boards. We should have played better.

Cannot start the game they way they did and expect to battle back every time. Also very hot and cold tonight.

I was disappointed in the showing today even if it was against a Big East team. The BC must have had 20 offensive rebounds and the Jacks had no consistent rhythm on offense. Give BC some credit, they hit some clutch (or lucky) 3's with the shot clock running out 4 or 5 times.

Better win Monday or my opinion of this team drops dramatically.

BC is an ACC team now, picked to finish in the bottom of the conference. Agree, I was expecting a better showing by our Jackrabbits. Monday is a huge game, must win in my opinion.

Heard a brief part of Coach's post game interview. Said they just didn't have the legs under them today. Maybe with the 80+ degree weather and humidity, the guys might have been pretty worn down after Friday nights game. Extra day of rest before the game on Monday.

My expectations for this years team are much higher than previous DI years. Therefore, Monday afternoon is a must win in my book.

Trapani was the difference in that game.

A better rested squad might've had a chance, but if you flip the games around, you'd probably have SDSU beating BC yesterday and getting positively dismantled by Purdue today--because the only way SDSU is going to beat a team that far above it is by pushing it to the wall from baseline to baseline. You can't win two games like that two days in a row.

Credit Nagy's team: They pushed. They made mistakes, but they didn't give any quarter. They played Purdue and Boston College with no fear, and the difference, realistically, was one of talent, and not of effort.

                  .
He was a huge factor for sure. He made a couple of 3's with the shot clock at darn near zero that just killed us. We didn't rebound well enough to say they would not have snagged those boards on a miss for me to give him the game ball but he did hurt us badly. Tough to win when you can't make a shot and they make the buzzer beaters even when those beaters are of the shot clock variety.

I'd give him the game ball. Who else on that team did more damage?

How many of those threes came after SDSU had put together a run of a couple baskets to close the gap? When the Jacks most needed a stop, Trapani got the basket.

Wondering why White and Fiegen (especially White) are not see more time?... especially with tired legs from starters due to back to back games. Hope to see more of them here in the near future, otherwise it's a waste of a redshirt year imo.

Dale hasn't been getting many minutes this year....wonder what that's all about?

                          1) it's the fourth game of the season

                          2) it's the fourth game of the season

                          3) Nagy was playing to win against BC & Purdue--and that meant playing AC & Griff until they fouled out on Friday, and playing Garrett for 37 minutes tonight. Look at the stat sheet for tonight. The four upperclassmen starters all played 30+ minutes. Sargent got off easy at 'only' 31 minutes.

Fiegen & White will be brought along during the non-conf season because Nagy's grooming them for is the 'real' season. The only way this team gets in the tournament is by winning the conference. Fiegen & White will be steady contributors by the time the conference season rolls around.

I assumed as much, I just question whether playing a tired starter 30+ minutes in back to back days gives us a better chance of winning than playing an inexpericed White and Fiegen 10 to 15 minutes a peice. I am more or less thinking out loud here rather than criticizing, but I figure it is a logical question to bring up.

I doubt it. Fresh legs is a poor substitute for being caught out of position.

The Jacks may have been tired tonight, but they played the disciplined ball they've been taught to play, and that's key when you're playing up a level.

I would have to disagree and say that White and Fiegen are not ready and should have redshirted like i had stated before. The conference schedule is more spread out and our top 4 if you include Kai will see 30 minutes a game. If you do not redshirt these players someone else who had one left should have. Not enough minutes to go around if everyone thinks they should be playing. Wolters, Callahan and Sargent, Cordova are going to get all the minutes along with Kai!

We will have the same record with or without White, Fiegen this year that is not a knock on them, but the need a year to get bigger and better!
