Hopefully we won't be graduating all our starters---or playing them 35 minutes a game..... winning consistently with a deep team that isn't overloaded in any particular class.
South Dakota State landed a Class of 2010 commitment on Friday when Jordan Dykstra picked the Jackrabbits, according to the site www.NY2LASports.com.
Dykstra is a former Iowa State commit.
ESPN's Scouts Inc. had this to say about Dykstra in July.
"Jordan played well in Orlando against some stiff competition. He's a skilled face up 4-man that showed he was a consistent threat from the arc and could put it on the floor to get to the basket.
"He's not a great athlete and had some trouble powering up through his defender in the low block area, but should improve that part of his game with natural maturation and a good college strength program. He does a nice job fighting for position and rebounds mostly in his area.
"Defensively he is a good positional defender that understands his ability and adjusts. He has a chance to be a very good player for a team that plays a 4-out/1-in offense that values a skilled 4-man with size."
South Dakota State struck on the recruiting trail Friday landing 6-9 2010 PF Jordan Dykstra of Rock Valley High School in Iowa. Dykstra was one of the top available bigs left on the board in the Midwest and had previously committed to Iowa State before re-opening his recruiting and eventually landing with the Jackrabbits.
Dykstra is a skilled power forward with nice size and length and the ability to face up and make things happen. He has solid instincts and the ability to knock down the mid range jumper and stroke the trey ball as well. He'll need to improve his explosion, strength, and scoring ability in the post at the next level but he's a solid grab for Head Coach Scott Nagy and the Jackrabbits as they land a solid young interior prospect who should put down a nice career in the Summit League.
What a difference a year makes and funny how 1 MN kid, 2 Iowa kids and 3 SD kids can build hope and excitement in Jackrabbit nation.....saw Coach Nagy tonight....he crack a smile and said oh by the way we got Jordan.......pretty much expected from a reserved coach.
Great news, indeed. Congratulations to the coaches, students and fans who helped persuade Mr. Dykstra to become a Jack. But congrats mostly to Dykstra himself for making a good choice. He took his time, weighed a lot of options and made a selection that appears to be a great fit. I can't wait to see him and incoming team mates on the court together.

Cadsev, saw you scouting at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday, any future Schoolers out there?
Congrats to young Dykstra. Everyone here thinks you have made a good choice for yourself and SDSU.
I hope you and Heemstra are able to blend in and contribute as best as you can. Expectations have most certainly been elevated. Good Luck in your remaining high school year and most of all your future SDSU career!!
