Tony is doing fine. He had a hernia surgery. It appears he will be redshirting this year. Get Well Soon!

Is the redshirting due to the hernia? If so that's too bad...on the other hand we're glad to have Tony for 5 years and the redshirt year will make him better.

Tony had surgery last Thursday....he's out 6 weeks....there has been no determination on a redshirt year or playing this year yet. They will evaluate in six weeks and determine the best option as the start of practice arrives.

Cadsev is right. I am sorry that my statement seemingly implied that he would redshirt "for sure". Tony is a strong kid. He shouldn't have any atrophy that isn't recoverable. I hope with this operation, he comes back with the vengeance of a fiery redhead!!!

Either way its a pretty big blow. I think Nagy was counting on him playing 20 mins a game. Hope he gets well soon.

I talked with Tony's dad on Wednesday. Tony is doing well and no decisons have been made to redshirt him. Right now, he's looking at about 6 weeks of recovery, about the time basketball starts practice. Got the hernia weightlifting.

In fact, I think Coach Nagy wants him to play this season.

Let's see, almost lost a fingertip last year weightlifting now this... if I were Coach Nagy, I'd tell Tony to stick with a medicine ball! LOL

I would say that even if Tony is behind at the start of the year we really need him to play. This is a big year for us and Tony is a huge key. Plus, we really need a big this year much more than I think we'll need a big in 4 years.
