No problem Nidaros. I would agree on not getting new un's all the time. I just don't want to see us be like Mount Marty though and wear the same uni's for what looks like 10 years. It just gives you a bad impression of their program. We also must remember, we are Division One now.

Alot of kids (recruits) love the alternate uni's and all that jazz these days. I know, it's stupid, but it's true and so a coach/program/AD would just be better off understanding that and going with it.

FWIW, the current uniform style was introduced for the '07-'08 season.

Question: if our colors are yellow and blue, why is there no yellow in the softball team uniforms? They're blue and white and (shudder) black??? Who decides that -- the team?

I agree with you on the numerology thing, Nidaros. But at the same time I kind of understand, too. It's a player's identity. I don't blame a kid who has been lucky enough to wear the same number since he or she started playing a sport for wanting to keep that number. But if it's not available, move on to something else.

Alternate jerseys: for me it depends on the sport. I can live with yellow, blue and white jerseys for basketball, baseball and softball. I just hope we never see yellow football jerseys ... or the unmentionable black in any sport!

new jerseys are nice but when I played legion baseball they were at least 12 years old and the pants were bought from a texas rangers minor league team and looked like they were from the 80's.... then when we did get new ones they were the town teams old old ones... which were only about 8 years old....

The good thing about having an alternate uni is you can play on the road Thurs and wear the blue and Sat and wear the yellow (who wants to do laundry on the road ). Plus the yellow can be worn at home and on the road. I believe, technically, you could wear the blue at home also but you have to give the visiting team proper notice.

As for a kid having a favorite number, sure they have a favorite in mind but if they can't have that I don't imagine it's the end of the world. I've had so many different numbers I can barely count anymore.

            And for the guy who wonders if we ordered more than just 14 uni's....of the top of my head (remembering what players wore what numbers) the only numbers available are....1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 23, 24, 30, 33, 34, 40, 42, 44, 50, 52, 54.

Did anyone notice, us and Oakland have the same style uni's, only different colors? Colorado also has the same style.

And yes, not a big fan of the softball uni's.

            Okay, okay, that is all!

Re: We can't order new uniforms?

There is another thing to factor in here. There are only 30 or 35 total possible numbers. SDSU has 18 players on the team(I think the practice/redshirt players have numbers). They do have numbers on gojacks.com. When the official calls a foul, he puts the first number on 1 hand and the second on the other(I think this is for men and not women). That gives you 1-5, 10-14, 20-24, 30-34, 40-44 and 50-54. I don't think 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55 are offered. You figure that we have 14 players coming back, that eliminates those numbers, and there aren't many numbers to chose from. Plus if you're a PG, you don't want a number in the 30's, 40's or 50's(normally).
I think for the women, they use 1 hand and put both numbers up in order.
This is just my opinion but I think it's right.

                15, 25, 35, 45, 55 are recognized numbers in the NCAA...as well as 0 and 00.

Re: We can't order new uniforms?

I like the MBB "STATE" better than the WBB "SD STATE", SDSU has had "JACKS" in the past... Maybe "STATE" on the whites and yellows and "JACKS" on the road blues? (I'm a fan of "STATE" as it's old school")

BTW, not a big fan of Michigan State's "State" script.... it looks quite dated.

I too am a bigger fan of "STATE" rather than "SD STATE". My first choice would be "JACKS".

Anybody remember the old days when home uniforms were always even and road odd numbers?
