We can't order new uniforms?

Okay, so I'm nitpicking, but I've noticed something. We ordered uniforms a few years back and have simply passed those uni's down each year.

I noticed the incoming freshmen are now on the roster at GoJacks.com and that....

Wolters gets Macks old jersey (#3)
Carlson gets Wipfs old jersey (#4)
White gets a jersey that hasn't been worn since 2006 (Yackley #30?)
Fiegen gets DeBoers old jersey (#34)

This trend has gone on since those new uni's arrived a few years back.

Again, not a real big deal. Just seems kind of bush league. I know that we have three different uni's and ordering 12-15 new uni's every year would be spendy (I imagine a top/bottom uni runs somewhere around $150, meaning 12 new uni sets would be around 2k each year) but you just wonder the message you're sending to recruits. And yes, some
recruits actually care about this stuff.

So you are saying because they have the same number as someone before they have the same jersey?? There isn't a picture up, they could possibly be ordering new unis and no one knows about it, but to just assume they aren't ordering new unis because someone has the same number might be a little off base

I will say, if I'm wrong, if it's that big of a coincidence, if guys coming in aren't choosing the number they wore in HS, if they are just happening to choose the exact same number, every time, as the guy(s) who graduated before them, then I will buy you season tickets this year to Frost....and.....give you everything I own.

The jerseys are likely the same. Typically when the jerseys are ordered the coaches select which numbers they want. There are extra jerseys ordered so there aren't just 14.

I don't know how it works now that the Nike deal is in place but typically new uni's would be ordered about every 4 years

The great thing about a forum like this is if you have an opinion or a topic you want to discuss regarding SDSU athletics that you can go ahead and comment (within good taste).

I don't know how it works now that the Nike deal is in place but typically new uni's would be ordered about every 4 years

My understanding was every two years... but that could just be football where they basically get destroyed in two years.

And by the way, I'd like to see that new "Jacks" logo on the basketball uniforms. "State" doesn't make any sense once the team leave our state. Michigan State can pull that off, but I'm not so sure we can. How about we go ahead and capitalize on our unique mascot for a change?

The men's basketball uniforms had "Jacks" on them through at least the mid-80s, in block letters. "State" doesn't bother me. But it might be time for a change, and while I'm still not 100% crazy about the new "Jacks" logo, I wouldn't mind it. And/or the running Rabbit logo on the shorts. Being a bit of a traditionalist, I would like to keep the block-style numbers rather than some crazy looking font. But that's just me. And my .02 ...

Sorry TeaJackrabbit about the "Who Cares" in an earlier post, I do agree that the uniforms should be be yellow and blue. Not some other color like black.

I really think kids today are hung up on certain numbers and if you athletic talent maybe a person should be gratiful to wear a numeral and now worry if its no 23 or what ever.

The other point in my opinion is that SDSU is still very much on a tight budget. We dont have that many television appearences, so I think the Athletic Dept could skimp and go six years for new uniforms. I know it makes for good fan auctions to have some surplus to sell every year, but what are our priorities? Uniforms is pretty low I would thin.
