I'm new to the Twitter thing. Kind of cool. But I don't know how to send or respomd to personal messages. Help?

Looks like coach was in Milwaukee recruiting. Not a market we have traditionally recruited.

This isn't Twitter. Anyone know if Stig is twittering?

Probably not, John doesn't use much technology if he doesn't have to. If he does have an account, someone in the football offices are doing the updates for him.

Call me old fashioned or a sourpuss, but I think this tweeting thing borders on goofy. Coaches already live in a fishbowl where people question just about every move they make. Now a coach "broadcasts" his/her location and tweeting followers try to figure out their purpose or what they are up to?

It might seem weird but all of the top coaches do it especially for recruiting. Pete Carroll, Mack Brown, etc. all do it. It is a good thing our coaches are staying up on this trend.

I agree with you, somewhat, in nostalgic principle. I can't imagine Woody Hayes even uttering the word, "Tweet." Blog to Vince Lombardi would have been the mud between the hash marks.

But coaching today is more PR and diplomacy and salesmanship than it was back then. Besides the fishbowl, coaching has really become a keeping up with the Joneses profession, unfortunately. It's also a copycat profession; how many Miami-style direct-snap offensive formations do you think we'll see in the NFL this year?
If kids Tweet, coaches or someone affiliated with them should, if for no other reason to show they can relate to the new generation of players using the new media. If a rival recruiter uses Twitter and you don't, you might be twit out of luck.

The Washington Post did a piece on this topic last weekend. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...070402240.html

Note comments from coaches and from the NCAA trying to keep up with it.

I think NoVaJack and rcjacks nailed it. It's just another great recruiting tool for coaches and I'm glad Nagy uses it.
