    Re: Is Nagy gone?

    Very well said.

I'm surprised about the year to year contract. No wonder Nagy may be a bit nervous.

Too bad there are no more home games, hopefully the men can keep the momentum going on the road. Maybe the ball will bounce in SDSU's favor next year...

      Re: Is Nagy gone?

Unfortunately, as Scott Nagy is an employee of the Board of Regents, he, like all other employees in higher education in South Dakota, are on year to year contracts.

Excellent points, easy to say/ask, harder to accomplish. Unfortunately the focus has been on FB as everyone thought the men's BB team would make the transition much more smoothly. Funny how you can't anticipate everything.

I don't think it is unfortunate that money is being pumped into football. The future payouts for the football team taking likely thumpings from Big 10 and 12 schools will help pay for alot of improvements in the athletic department.

Jake Wenig I believe was the other guys name, and I think he had some health problems, foot maybe?

I thought Green showed spurts of what he was capable of last year. I don't believe he had the best attitude but he sure could have helped this years sqaud down low.

Yep, Wenig is right. Not only did he have really slow feet but in addition he said his one foot hurt. I don't think Nagy liked that much.

Agreed, Joe Green could have helped down low, if he wanted to.

OH yeah I remember now. Do I need a body guard the next time I run into you at a game, or will a teeth guard do?

Granted Cadwell and Holdren are a success, but why are we trying to win  D1 games with just two players who can play at the D1 level?  If we still had Landon Scott, Green and Wenig we would be a little better shape.  At least I think we would. We would have a starting five that could compete. You guys can go on  and on about the reasons for these guys all leaving, but why were these bad choices made in the first place? Thats a question that deserves to be asked too.

The post by Cadsev does make a great deal of sense.  The staffing differences between NDSU and SDSU could very will explain why they have a better roster right now. Yes they probably came to Brookings over confident and even Coach Miles felt SDSU had gotten into their minds and they did not perform probably to their talent level. I also watched the disaster in Fargo on January 14th, and most of you will tell me to forget the game. It was the most sloppy game plan that I have ever seen. I don't think this should be forgotten. NDSU got a ton of layups and Nagy has said that much himself in one of the Brookings Register articles. As for Phil Haan, FargoBison is right in that we were down 21 at half so his job of a role player did not win the game, but it sure cemented the lead and put the game out of reach. So where was Coach Nagy's defense that night?

At the risk of being accused of being a Bison follower, Team maker and any other disloyal organizations tied to NDSU, I do think the staffing of full time assistants makes a difference. It has made me rethink my comments about Larson some. If we are staffing light, which appears to be correct, then making poor choices are more likely to happen.  To me this is very frustrating. And its also an adminstration problem and maybe a problem for the rest of 65,000 alums who could give more cash but dont, so that we do staff properly and recruit properly. I now I am going to get ragged to death for bringing up money, but gosh its awfully important right now. I dont want to go back to D2, BUT WE COULD BE FORCED TO if we dont do our part.

I would really like to let loose about the current investigation, but I am not that stupid. It does bother me that this kind of publicty makes the Argus in lieu of the good stories that could be written and would be written were not for current situation.

So as the King of Looking In and not having any preception of whats going on I am going to take Cadsev advice and do some letter writing and also increase my giving too. I have two acorns that are not scholarship endowments and one of them could be used for staffing.

No, you dont need a bodygaurd or a teeth protector.

I wear a mouth guard (teeth protector) all day long. Sure, my clients have a hard time understanding me and I tend to drool alot, but if I ever trip and land on my face, I have a 50% less of a chance of suffering a concussion with a mouth guard in. You can never be too careful. Plus, you never know when an impromptu football game can start up. Do you want to be that guy who's asked to play only to have to decline because of a lack of proper equipment? Me neither.
