      Re: Is Nagy gone?

At the risk of setting people off on another flamewar, please note that to date Gilbert and Berte have been charged with NOTHING.

It is not completely unheard-of for women to "cry rape" when what happened was 100% consensual. (See link).

I'm not saying that this is what happened in this case--I simply don't know what happened one way or another. But those who want to throw not only Gilbert and Berte but Nagy, the rest of the basketball program and SDSU as an institution under the bus before the facts are known (or who want to use this unfortunate episode to promote their own personal sense of despair or ennui) are simply out of line.

I suspect Nagy's staff will look different next year and the biggest change may be his right-hand man.  Not my decision to make.

As for Nagy's team, he will have a solid backcourt anchored by Holdren and Cadwell.  Hopefully Hornby can handle the point.  Loney and Beran will need some help from the RS freshman and maybe, just maybe Bassett or Cordova.  Thats up to Nagy.

Frustration over the way things have gone shouldn't result in despair about the future.

Just a comment on Cordova. A lot of the highlights from the Roosevelt games shows Cordova with a nice middle range shot (just outside the lane towards the free throw line). This is a nice range to have your big guys to be able to hit from. At the beginning of the year, Ben was hitting this shot from the base line very consistently. I might not have to bowl this Thursday so I might have to check Cordova out in a game against Brookings (I believe they play on the 21st).
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

I guess that puts "out of line", but I am not throwing the institution under the bus. I seen a lot of staff faculty, coaches and what have you come and go. Some were good and some not so good. I am not disloyal, but its comical OK rabbit accused me of having a yellow and blue list. Now to some I appear to have a green and gold list. ;D Which is it? :

Basketball will still be here.  That is a given. I spoken all I want for this day and will not take back nor do I apologize for anything I have said. I dont feel I should have to.  If the Foundation stops sending envolpes, that fine too. I seem to spend my money one way or another.

As for the link well I dont have to buy that as gospel either.

On a side note, the guy on the bike makes you think a little bit about our own security in Frost Arena. Terrorism can strike anywhere, anytime. I'll let the rest of you imagine what could have happened last night if someone really wanted to hurt us. I'm guessing this guy got let in with his bike by an "insider".

I have no problems giving coach Nagy more time given our current D1 "transitional" status. However, if Berte and Gilbert are charged and convicted, and it becomes known that Nagy recruited these players being fully aware of some prior problems, then heads must roll. I will not stand for that kind of garbage in any of our athletics even if we do sacrifice some wins in the process.

While I agree ever so slightly, you can't truly judge what a young man is going to do when he gets on his own. Sometimes becoming a BMOC has a profound effect on a young man and no matter how much research is done on his background bad things can happen.

I'd like to continue with some more speculative b.s.

What if the alleged volleyball player's accusations turn out to be false and completely untrue. Will she be suspended and will everyone be calling for the head volleyball coach's head?

I'll disagree on one front, kids deserve a second chance. This is not to say that any of the alleged actions are easily forgiveable but to ask that those who recruit an individual to a campus, job, community, etc... only accept those with a completely pristine past is ridiculous.

Anthony Robinson had a history and Stig took a chance on him. Didn't work out and left SDSU with a black eye. Still, it be foolish to blame Stig or his staff. To ask the Nagy of his staff take sole responsibility in this matter seems crass to me.

That post of yours is garbage. Watch NDSU play one game and then use it to make statements about their team is just ridiculous. Both Mike Nelson and Brett Winkleman can take a game over and beat teams as well, trust me I have watched them do it all year long. If I took the NDSU-SDSU game I watched in Fargo and used it to base what I thought about each team it wouldn't be pretty for SDSU but I am smart enough not to make assumptions based off one game. As far as being competitive NDSU already is they have only been blown out once this year(K-State) and they have been in every other game. I am not going to make any guesses about which team is ahead of who because injuries and redshirts make it almost impossible to predict but I think both teams have the talent to make some noise come time when they are tourney eligable.

Also I don't think SDSU will be better then NDSU next year but I don't think NDSU is that far ahead either. NDSU adds three good freshman next year and only lose Hahn who was a role player. I think NDSU could possibly make a run at the NIT next season, I am not sure about SDSU but I am sure you will be much better. Both NDSU-SDSU games next year will be battles(probably a spilt) and I am looking forward to next years basketball season as much or more as I'm looking forward to football season. Ever heard a Bison fan say that.

I see your point. I'm not talking about a recruit having some minor issues before he comes to campus such as shoplifting, etc, but big ones of the sexual type. I'll chime in more on this topic after the outcome of whatever happens with Berte and Gilbert.

Now that I think about it, I have a counterpoint to my own point. I'm a self-proclaimed Duke fan, and when they recruited Shelden Williams out of Oklahoma he had been charged with some type of sexual assault, but eventually cleared. Although I was very skeptical about him coming to campus, he has been nothing but an ideal student athlete. Now I don't have the entire story on what happened with the Landlord, but judging him by his past 4 years at Duke I agree with Coach K's decision to bring him on campus. Now if he had been convicted, that is a totally different story.

I'll reserve judgment on whoever recruited Berte and Gilbert until all the facts come to light.

All logical but perhaps a bit wishful. Speculating about a run at the NIT is fine but that speculation leading to an expectation is dangerous. My goal, find a damn conference, play better basketball each game next year, and beat the Bison in Fargo (again for the women).
