    Re: SDSU @ Texas Pan-American

It wasn't pretty, but I liked the scrappy effort.  Way to go Jackrabbits, any win on the road is a good one!

    Go State!  ;D

I hope one lesson the players take away from this season is that ANY road D-I win is special, and to get one, you have to bring it for 40(+) minutes.

Corollary is you HAVE to protect your home court, because road wins are so hard to come by.

What a game for Beran, 19 points 11 boards and played all 40 minutes.

Good win. ... How often do you hear a lane violation called in the closing seconds of a close game? Even obvious lane violations seem to be overlooked, most of the time. ... Regardless, good comeback win today. Picking up one more win this season (with two tough road games left) would be very nice.

                Nagy post-game WNAX comments
The first time all year that the kids fought through being dysfunctional. Eric hit a big shot. Kids showed good character fighting through what was not a very good game.

They spent so much time focusing on Cadwell, Eric was wide open and got a good look at it. He made some big shots for us. Want to play Eric at the two because he's such a good shooter.

Ben played very well, he didn't shoot it great, but he was aggressive and felt good about his game. Rebounds were huge, he got two late that were big.

We knew late that Sheppard would have the ball late, not a good free throw shooter so we were going to foul him.

I think when they got down they were most concerned about defense on us, that's why Lien wasn't in the game late.

At halftime, guys were so tentative, had fourteen turnovers, that was not good. Cadwell was nervous, edgy. They had the energy tonight, we didn't handle the pressure very well.

There had to be 100 people for SDSU here, a lot of SDSU people here.

Nice to get a split on the road, feel a bit better about themselves.

Both California teams are very good. Hope we get both teams coming in flat, after their conference seasons and waiting for their tournaments.
Darn, they need to get a better mike for Nagy, or turn the pot up a bit on his mike, he's awful hard to hear on the webcast.

Our first season sweep of an opponent, looking forward to more of these in the future.

Interesting fact I found over on the UTPA web site, the season we won our NCAA D-II Men's Basketball National Championship (1962-1963) UTPA won the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship.

Heien knocked down a big three at the end when we needed it. Pan Am had just taken the lead by 1.

Nagey said in the post game interview that Heien is the best 3 point shooter on the team. Scott had set the play to go to him. Way to go Eric!

                          Way to go Jacks!
