For those that believe past SDSU teams (DII) were better, what years are we talking about?

Doesn't matter, we will be having these same discussions next year at this time. We will all be looking forward to the 20 win season the next year. The same discussion we had last year, and the year before. Just get used to it, we will be winning about a dozen games a year for a long time.

Well, okay if it doesn't matter ... carry on.

Well, I think today's Mount Marty squad could put a pretty solid shellacking on the early 90s Jacks teams.

I also think that the moon is made of green cheese, and that the earth is flat, and that Michael Jackson was really in love with Lisa Marie Presley.

My assumption is that they'd finish about third to fifth in the Summit and split with the Jacks.

There was a major difference in student response, they had more than 5000 in attendance, lots of students and the students were LOUD. The Summit is hurt by having so many commuter schools, I'm sure there was nothing else to do in Warrensburg on a Saturday morning but head over to the game. I know there was some discussion of their going DI and if they do they very well might wind up in the Summit-- I wonder if the crowds will continue if they've got Centenary rather than NWMS coming in for games. (and no, I'm not advocating a return to the NCC, you can't go home again, and I paid little attention to SDSU until they did go DI-- that's what got my interest up again after 40 years).

I just don't see a bright line between the best D2 conferences and the weaker DI's. I suspect there's plenty of overlap in most programs. The talent I saw when I ventured to WIU was certainly better than what I remember from the mid sixties, but those were pretty bad teams. I think Nagy was quoted a year or two ago as saying his best NCC teams could probably win about 17 games-- I think that's a good assessment.

If what Grizzled_Jack says is correct, in that Nagy was quoted a year or so ago saying his best NCC teams could probably win about 17 games, than that is proof that the mid to late 90 Jacks could compete in the Summit. Of all people, Nagy would be in the best position to argue this whole debate. Currently we have 12 wins with two of those coming from lower tier league teams - Mayville State and Upper Iowa.

I still stand by my previous statements.

I don't remember any such comments, I'd love to see a citation, and finally, what someone says would happen is hardly definitive----you may, for instance, insist that your child is smarter than Albert Einstein, but the foundation for saying so is no more supportable than the foundation for insisting that someone else's child is the dumbest kid in his class.

So you are going to use what Grizzled_Jack says that Coach Nagy said as proof for your argument? I would like to see this quote that Coach Nagy is supposed to have said from a real sorce before I will put much stock in it.

                    You're right no progress here.

This the first year since our transition that we have had an upper classmen lead the team in scoring and also the first year we haven't had a freshman in the top 4.

The offseason after 2005-2006 was where things went south. We were set to have all 5 leading scorers back but instead lost Beran to family reasons, Holdren to Illinois, and Berte and Gilbert to legal matters. This lead to the 2006-2007 washout and eventual loss of Cadwell.

From 2006-07 to today Williams and Callahan have grown from freshman to juniors, Sargent and now Cordova and Moss are all important contributors as Sophomores and we have increased our wins and scoring margin against DI competition in every season. We will qualify for the postseason conference tournament and not lose a single major contributor in the offseason.

Next year we add Tony Fiegen and Chad White in addition to James Rader who red-shirted this season, Dwight Pederson and possibly Anthony Davis from injury. With these players returning we should be a top 3 team in the conference next season.

I did read it very carefully and that is why I asked if you really intended to use what Grizzled_Jack says that Coach Nagy supposedly said. The next line that I left out is - if so then you have one weak argument.

Didn't you tell us all at the begining of the season that we wouldn't win 10 games and that we wouldn't make the Summit Tourney?

The topic has wandered to how good they are now compared to other State teams. That being said, how do you think they'd be doing this year if they were in the NSIC?

                                They'd be 1-1.
