  • Ndsu 2.0

Since we do play them tomorrow night, thought we should have a thread and all. Sorry if someone started one that I missed.

Call me crazy (and you wouldn't be the first), but I like our chances in this one. One of Coach Nagy's post game comments on Saturday, "If you don't believe we can win up in Fargo, don't get on the bus."

Also, since NDSU fans are always b!tching about the football game not being broadcast when its in Brookings, will the bball games in Fargo be on TV Tuesday?
“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson

I thought the game in Frost changed when we stopped allowing Woodside to go to his right. I think it was around halftime that we made an obvious effort to force him to his left. He was able to fight through it for a couple of buckets, but he looked uncomfortable. I'd like us to start out the game with this type of defense. I believe it really limited the pick and roll which absolutely killed us in the first half. IMO, Woodside looked very average going to his left. It reminded me of when Nagy forced Mueller from USD to use his left hand to bring the ball up. If you remember they ended up having their center bring the ball up the court because Mueller couldn't do it. On a side note, that's also the exact reason I won't listen to anyone who tells me how good Mueller was...should be embarrassing to a PG if you can't bring it up the court with man to man press.

Anyway, I like our chances to go up there and compete. That's all we can ask. I'm hoping that Moss's athleticism can be the difference.

We have been getting killed on post play and teams that crash the boards. I believe it was your center (correct if I am wrong) who was just lighting us up inside and there was a point in overtime when he was put on the bench and we jumped out into the lead to beat you guys. SUU out rebounded us 28-20 and had 10 second-chance points... ouch.

lol. Like we have a center.

It was 6'7 power forward Anthony Cordova, who (because we start 3 guards) ends up under the basket. Fortunately he does alright for himself under there--more than alright some nights.

Unfortunately he's not a very good FT shooter right now.

Your comments got me thinking. Has Nagy ever tried to play Engen with Cordova? I haven't seen Engen play much but he seems to have pretty good feet for a 6-10 guy and decent touch. THis would free cordova up and give him a big body to set solid screens for him not to mention the Jacks would have another big guy crashing the boards.

He has tried but Mark just doesn't like to "bang". If someone puts their backside firmly into his thigh he kind of crumples over.

AC can dominate the Bison inside, draw them down, kick out and get some 3's from our shooters. Then, when the Bison try to close out on the arc penetrate and scoop or dish or kick out again. Hit the offensive and defensive boards and we have a shot.

Where the Bison really killed us at the end of the game at Frost was with the spread offense and their excellent FT shooting.

We can win in Fargo but we need the Bison to have an off night from the 3-point line and we need a huge game from AC.

                      Any word on Clint?

If SDSU can shoot as well from 3 and the ft line as SUU did on Saturday (80% and 100%), it should be a good game.

The BSA will be rocking tonight!

Well maybe Clint's injury isn't such a bad thing. It may for Nagy to play more players and get them some experience going into the tourney. They'll need that.

I think it's pretty unlikely that Clint will be playing

TV said in the Argus today that Clint is likely out for the NDSU game tonight as well as the Cal Poly game this weekend.

I think its best to wait until he is ready to go 100%. The last conference road trip of the season is the make or break games, the Cal Poly game is pretty much meaningless. Let him sit out until next Thursday and have him ready to go for Oral Roberts and Centenary.
