He was really pleased with the free throw shooting (Dale, Garrett and Griff were pointed out). Didn't like to be reminded about being down by 37 at IPFW (wanted to forget it). Was really happy they held on. He doesn't look at the standings, but he hears the assistants talking about it. He is just thinking about Oakland on Saturday.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Nothing too much of note that I can recall. Was happy with the win at home. Said we got a few fortunate calls, but wasn't going to apologize for them since we tend to not get any calls on the road. Said he's glad he has short hair or he would have pulled it out in the second half. Had to call more timeouts than he likes because the guys were having some lapses.

      Thats about all I remember.

IUPUI blowing out Southern Utah and if it holds we have a logjam in the middle of the Summit. This is why this was a HUGE win tonight. Middle of the pack ripe for someone to break out. Jacks have a big opportunity here.

Standings (if IUPUI holds on, up 15 with about three minutes to play )

        NDSU 9-1
        ORU 8-1
        Oakland 6-4
        Centenary 5-4
        SDSU 4-6
        IUPUI 4-6
        SUU 4-6
        W Ill 4-6
        IPFW 3-7
        UMKC 2-8

Does anyone know why SDSU doesn't report it's Box Scores to ESPN and other media outlets. You can check most DI box scores after the game is over, but if we have a home game they are never shown till the next day?

To me number 11 for IPFW reminded me of Mark Madsen. Did anyone else at the game or watching see that resemblence at all? Because everytime I watched him I just laughed my ass off!

This is one thing that bothers me about him. He is stubborn and doesn't like to call timeouts to help his team out. That may be OK for a senior laden team, but this team is still young by many standards. He needs to use his timeouts to help them out.

I liked that he called the time out before half when the shot clock was shut off and discussed the plan of action. We had two fouls to give; after giving the two fouls, IPFW only had a couple of seconds to inbound and get off a shot. They airballed a 22 footer, and we went into the locker room with a lead. Nice Work Coach! Every possession counts!!

Now that you mention it, he did seem to have that Madsenesk look. The only difference was Mark Madsen could score a point here and there. I really wasn't worried about #11 hurting us. He just seemed to run around and set screens.

I just had to post this morning because I didn't want the NDSU page back on top. That was last week, lets talk about the here and now.

I agree, how the heck is that thread still going?

It was good to see the guys play through the issues last night and come out with a win. Gotta protect home, we did that. That loss in Indiana was embarrassing, and its good to see us turn it around.

Kai had a great defensive effort last night, and he crashed the boards hard. Its awesome to see that effort even though he isn't top notch on offense right now. AC is turning into my favorite player to watch (and not just because he has the coolest last name ever).

A lot of other guys on here have said this before, but our team is a lot better this year than last year (too bad last year was about as bad as it could get). As Nagy says, even though the steps we are taking aren't quite what we would like, they are steps in the right direction. My confidence in Nagy as a coach is starting to come around again. It always seems like the debate on this forum was whether our problems primarily came down to coaching or experience (or a little of both). I think the 'experience factor' for this team is much greater than people realize (and coaching hasn't been the major downfall as some other people have raved over). You can agree or disagree, thats my two cents.

It was a big win, now we need 2-3 more to lock down Sioux Falls. Go get Oakland.

That was a good game. From what I've read on here, that was the game that previous years (and earlier this year) that the Jacks would have found a way to lose. The refs were pretty shaky especially when they gave #3 or #2 NBA-level continuation for that break away layup. My favorite part of that play was the lady in the first row yelling for a travel, haha. Whoever said that number 11 was like Mark Madsen was dead right. He was so funny to watch.

Last thought: that block by Kai was amazing! I thought they should have shown that on a continuous loop during time-outs. Wow he got up on that one. Someone definitely needs to put that on Youtube.

Just a FYI: in his post-game remarks, Nagy noted that he doesn't like to call timeouts when closing the games, because he believes the team should know what to do because they practice it a lot. However, he said, he has started calling more timeouts in ending situations, because this team still needs to get a lift in those situations.

He also said he let a few other opportunities slip by that he should have called a TO.

Glad to see he's using them more.
