NDSU Friday Night

Seems there is a little confusion about who plays when. I plan to be there for both games but my schedule will likely not allow me to make it for the tip of the men's game. The players made it clear that having a large and vocal crowd in support helped considerably against IUPUI. Time for some of us to step up and make attending this game a priority.

We can beat NDSU, not an expectation but certainly a possibility.

I plan on being there with my wife and her "huge belly(8 months tomorrow)"...I say with the utmost affection.(I'm just gald she doesn't read this board...or does she??)

If anyone was at the IUPUI game and saw how amped the crowd was and how that made the guys play...then I don't think there is anyway we as fans can justify not being at Frost Arena Saturday night if it is entirely possible for you to be there.

BTW...less than 3000 at Frost Friday and Saturday night and I can guarantee you that will be the last SDSU/NDSU basketball game at Frost on KSFY.

Let's get out and support both teams, they BOTH deserve it and isn't it fun to BEAT THE BISON????

My hope is that the Athletic Dept. has the Dakota Marker sitting right in the middle of the "platform" when you walk up the first stairs to the ticket takers, with two UPD officers guarding it. Now that would be cool!

The Men's game is Friday not Saturday.

The sad thing is I agree that they won't put another game on TV if this one doesn't draw 3000. The thing is we haven't had 2000 for a home single game, yet. I think Centenary was close but I don't remember another game close.

I'll be there. If we can somehow get a win over NDSU at home, I like our odds for getting into the Summit tournament. I would also like our odds of winning the tourney with it being in SF and basically home crowd...

This is a fantastic idea! With a sign that says "Season tickets go on sale July 1" or whatever day season ticket sales start.

The main thing will be containing Woodside. The Bison have some good talent, but Woodside is what makes them tick and he get's the other players open shots.

Hopefully Dale will be up to speed by Friday. I think a good dose of Dale and Palarca might be able to slow him down. It's a tough task though.

I will preface this by saying I am not sure of the availability/cost for student tickets at Frost; a lot has changed since the mid-1970s, I am sure. But I can't imagine students not showing up in droves for games like this. Spoiled???Once it was a virtual fight to get into these games... of course that was back in the Barn; saw exactly one game as a child there and my most vivid memory is of students lined up for blocks to get in. Smaller venue, for sure, but amazing crowds.
Can't imagine in this viral day and age with all the Sports Center shots of Duke (undergrad population, 4,500) or some of the other crazy-student venues that SDSU faithful wouldn't want to start their own tough-court tradition. Does the seating arrangement preclude this kind of tradition?

I believe both the men's and the women's games will have a good turnout. They will no doubt have one side of the end bleachers out for these games and I think there will be a good showing from NDSU fans (more for the men's game than the women's if the women's team is really down to just 7 players as was mentioned in a different thread).

I think students still get in free, and I know for a fact that when the student section is full, they will seat students in the mezzanine bleachers above the regular student section.

1) My mistake. However, those home singles have been non-confs or midweek games and SDSU's home non-conf schedule this year hasn't been one to inspire, and midweek games don't draw well.

2) The 'surprise' factor is 100% on SDSU's side. The coaches don't want the players to look past this game, but it's my bet that they will. There is a rather steep institutional bias against SDSU in the NDSU athletic department (according to TV, the NDSU soccer team thought they had a chance against SDSU), and in the 'Bison' community.

IMO, the Bison players will be caught as much off guard in this game as they were at UMKC, and I think SDSU at home is a much much better team than UMKC at home.

I'm expecting, if anything, a redux of the '07 Marker game, where a decidedly undermatched Jacks team stole one out from under the Bison.

The Jacks are looking at this game as their opportunity to =prove= themselves to a hesitant fan base.

Frankly, I'm not going to predict a win--same as I didn't predict a win against Iowa State. Or in the NCAA soccer first round.

However, this game feels decidedly winable. Anyone that saw how the Jacks played IUPUI, and the way the crowd kept them going, has to expect interesting things on Friday night.

3) I doubt we'll have Moss at anywhere close to full strength.

Students pay for their admission to athletic events when they pay their activities fee. They get in by showing a student ID. I always argue to my students that they've already bought the ticket, they might as well go, and I guarantee they'll enjoy the spectacle of it even if they're not big sports fans. I announce every home athletic event in my class (which features 200 first year students each semester) and I've had several students thank me later for encouraging them to attend athletic events.

I see it as a student retention issue (besides being just a fun part of college). The more ways we can get students to build connections to the university the more likely it is that they'll succeed and stick around to graduate.

ya this will be the first game i'll have to pay for! I always felt lucky as a student to get into the games with just an ID some places sdudents still gotta pay.
