    Re: I believe

I have to say the last couple seasons, '06-'08 were the years where I wondered if it was time to change. The lousy recruits from earlier, the academic DQ and the legal issues, the atrocious play, Nagy's public statements to the effect that he was at his wit's end.

But Nagy's commitment to the 4-guard system got me excited about this season. What we may not realize is that Nagy, basically, is rewriting the playbook on the fly this season. He's rewriting the playbook to play to the strengths of players like the Callahans, Clint, and Kai--a type of player that he can recruit year after year.

And I think that's the key going forward---it's not just that his players are learning, but he's also learning how to win with the talent that he has available to him in D-1.

Nagy just about choked up on the WNAX post-game interview, talking about Kai's 1000th point.
Just got in the car after the game and caught Nagy's interview on WNAX. I was kind of moved when he was talking about Kai's last play and him getting his 1000th point. He said he just didn't want to see Kai not make the basket. He was very emotional and I think it showed he really has a love for his players.

Great win and I will always believe in the Jacks...

Would have loved to be in that locker room after the game to hear what Nagy told the guys. I think the guys just climbed to the top of the hill.

Megan Vogel has said it over and over being a Jack is like having a second family and I believe that's why so many athletes are so glad they chose SDSU when their playing days our over. This interview tells me the men's team and Nagy are no different.

True coaches ALWAYS make sport about life beyond the playing field. Some coaches can never get beyond that, even those that occassionally win national championships or accolades beyond most people's imagination. But when it comes down to it, sport is the cleanest metaphor for life in general, and to see this team fight through and pereservere for a moment last night is a lesson beyond the court. How many of us in the same situation would have had the mental toughness to fight back when down that far, given what had preceded them in the last few months and years? To me that said more about this team than any disappointment.

BTW, apparently Oakland coach does not believe in not calling out his players by name. Sounds bitter about his two best players: http://www.ougrizzlies.com/sports/m-...013109aab.html

I wouldn't say he really called them out, it's true, both are excellent free throw shooters and they missed them at the end.

Griffan's addition, Moss's adaptation are helping make the whole team more open and flowing.

Jacks have demonstrated they can get out to a lead, and hold it when they have it. Still need testing of being down in the 2nd half and pulling a game out.

Having enjoyed many a great team, and exciting PACKED Frost arena in the late 70's, this team is looking like those teams again. WELCOME BACK JACKS!

What a great win tonight for the guys.

I'm very happy for them. I'm still almost shaking...an hour after the game ended.

                    I LOVE MARCH MADNESS!!

The Jacks will use this win to fuel their off-season and complete the turn-around that has begun. Garrett Callahan and Kai Williams will be revered in the SDSU community like Travis Ford, Sean Woods, John Pelphrey, Deron Feldhaus and Richie Farmer are revered in the Kentucky community. Garrett and Kai have stuck it out during the toughest of times and will reap the benefits next year as long as Coach Nagy deservedly returns!
