It's the Palace of Auburn Hills, not Oakland's facility. Oakland's gym seats about 3,000 and is relatively new. Michigan State christened the building a few years back.

Who exactly owns Auburn Hills and how is it that the playing floor has an Oakland logo on it?  Does Oakland own the floor, but not the facility?  If its a portable floor, I could see it could be set up and taken down in a matter of hours. If Oakland is the regional host what would their cut of the gate receipts be if any?  Just curious and I would think you might know the answers to these questions since you have a Michigan background.

I'm not sure of the financial cut, but the Palace is owned by a private company. All NCAA Tournaments have a host institution - for example, the Final Four in 2000 was hosted in Indianapolis by Butler University but played at the RCA Dome. I know for the games this year in Jacksonville, Jacksonville University is the host and is responsible for conducting press conferences and game-day staff.

Not sure what the deal with that great looking floor is, but I know Michigan State bought the floor used for the 2000 title game in Indy and installed it at the Breslin Center for the 2000-01 season. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that the floor in Auburn Hills won't be moved to Oakland's arena next year.

I don't know about others but my bracket just went down the tubes fast. Losing UNC and Pitt cost me 2 final four teams. Oh well I guess there is always next year.

Congrats to those of us picking G. Mason, Wichita St. and Bradley to all make the Sweet 16. : : ;D

Looks like we all missed out on at least 2 of those 3. With that said, about 4 of the 18 still have our final four alive, and it'll be interesting to see who comes thru.

BTW, Fan 950 is having a 2nd chance for the remaining 16, so have fun on 2nds.

What's that about Dog's rear-ends and Sunshine?  That's my explanation for ending tied for first.  Congrats to rabidrabbit for a hard-fought split victory.
