i think at every home game next year we should have a thing where the students get to ask aj or nagy 10 questions, appropriate before the game about things they wanna know. like a question and answer session with the coaches. or have a section like the nagy rowdies or aj's crazies. the tv/superfan thing was a good idea. i dunno what has worked at other school but the tunnel cam sounded cool. or how about give 2 students a courtside seat each game and have the lead the reserved side in cheering. any other ideas?

Re: crowd involvment
I like all of the ideas besides the 10 questions. Last thing the coach needs is some drunk student asking him an inappropriate question making him mad before a big game. I've been a college student and college student's in general sometimes show a great lack of maturity (present company included on more than one occasion). Coach doesn't want to have to deal with that.
I thought it was very cool watching the SDSU - UWM game last year when everyone had on the t-shirts. Regardless of the outcome, it was very cool to show people here in Milwaukee what I've been talking about all along. That UWM's student section could learn a lot from SDSU's. Plus, people almost kill each other for the free t-shirt toss.
On the same token. How about a bobble-head night? The mini-bobble heads couldn't cost that much and would probably guarantee a full house. First 1000 paying customers and the first 250-500 students get a bobble head. Works for the Brewers. (I know the cost would probably be too great, but Coach Nagy/AJ/Stig bobble head night would be pretty cool)."You just stood their screaming. Fearing no one was listening to you. Hearing only what you wanna hear. Knowing only what you heard." Metallica

bobble heads heck yes thats what i was forgetting. with the questions idea i thought have the participants screened and questions approved. the shirts for the UW-M game were cool. this year we got bigger schools coming we should have like lil themes. i also think the Jacks Fanatics should make a come back.

Re: crowd involvment
During game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals it seemed like all but 5 of the fans in Miami were wearing white during the game. Also the sea of Red at a Nebraska football game is pretty impressive.
I think it would be cool to see that much Royal or Yellow at a State game.

Re: crowd involvment
The t-shirt thing only works if you have a full arena.........probably not gonna happen this year except for the men's game vs NDSU and a few other women's games. Forget the bobbleheads, t-shirts, courtside seats, 10 questions, and everything else. FOCUS on the student section.
bluehatman, if you really want Frost to become an intimidating venue you need two things.
1. Good teams
2. Good student section (the others will follow if the students are good).
Now there isn't much you can do about #1, but you can work on #2. If you want to be the best, you should model yourself after the best - the Cameron Crazies.
Here is what needs to happen:
1. You and your fellow students need to create an "official" student cheer group, such as the "Frost Fanatics". Elect a leader, print t-shirts, and start gathering members.
2. Do your research on the opponent before each game and create what is called a "cheer sheet". The cheer sheet contains certain cheers that the student section should use when directed by the designated leader. The cheer sheets then get passed out before the game. Nothing deragotory or tasteless for cheers, but good ol' fashioned fun. Like cheering "Who ate all the big-macs?!?" at Sean May.
With the generally conservative "non-student" crowd at SDSU, it is going to be really tough to get them up and cheering as much as you would like to. However, if you can start with the students and get them organized, the non-students will come around and join in the fun.
If you need a Cameron Crazie cheer sheet as an example I would be more than happy to provide you one.

Re: crowd involvment
I know that the student section did receive a cheer sheet for every men's and women's basketball game during the second half of the year. The name of it escapes me. We should see if they plan on similar items for football, volleyball, and other sports this coming year.
I have to disagree with the thought process of giving the group an name and expecting people to show up. Look at the term "Jackrabbit Nation." That is not something that SDSU fans thought up, but rather a name given to us when we ALL went down to St Joe for the women's tournament. Having a name could be helpful, but providing an exciting environment would be first priority and I think the AD is in the process of doing this. Remember, this is all a process. The name will come.

Re: crowd involvment
I'm not sure if it was "jackrabbit nation" but I Steve Imming has used a very similar term for years during the broadcasts. Now that I think about it a little, I'm sure he has used several phrases, he's done it a long time and done it very well.

Re: crowd involvment
Student crowd has always been good at following.
I hear that they are starting to follow some of the cheers of the band at the football games.
I thought they had the Fanaddicts. What happened to that group?Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power.

Re: crowd involvment
I believe it disbanded after 2003, at least i haven't seen them around campus since that time. i see shirts that say Jacks Fanatics but thats about all. IMO the guys i cheer with and me do a good job on leading the students at Frost. When it comes to football games though imma free roamer between the end zones. much closer to the action.
