    Re: San Jose State

What were Cordova's minutes tonight? It seemed like he was on the floor for 30 minutes. He had a few mental lapses, but in all he really played well.

      Re: San Jose State

I didn't watch the last 15 minutes.... but from what I saw I liked.... The team is not deep and isn't the greatest.... But I was happy with the effort... The team fought for rebounds, loose balls.... Last year there was times that it seemed like they were afraid to make mistakes and I didn't see that tonight..... I was happy with Cordova... I thought he was great, he NEEDS to finish a few more of those after he beats his defenders and needs to learn when to go up and when to pull it out but he impressed me a lot..... Engen though he didn't play a lot I thought really improved on the defensive end, he was holding his own something he didn't last year..... Casey did good though he still has that tendency to throw up quick shots sometimes.... I think Palarca and Cassidy will really help this team.... Saregent is a lot better off the ball..... Now that I rambled all I need to ramble.... All I got to say is good effort but got to quit the mental errors, and have to shoot better then 34% get it up to 42-45% and you will win a lot more games....

Didn't listen to the game, but the game seemed to play out similar to the previous years. The difference being they did bounce back after the ex. game and play hard.

I'm curious to hear from those were at Frost as to if they have a different look and intensity to them as a team. And also how SJ state rates as a team.

They had one great spurt where they cut a 12 point deficit to 1 point in (about) less than two minutes. They also had a nice run in the last five minutes before SJSU pulled away. Quite a few and-ones given up defensively. The intensity was there and they gave the pre-season #4 team in the WAC a good game.

for the most part it was a fun game to watch and the team played hard and looked good for most of the game. The rebounding was goob but the free thow shooting was not! I also thought the fans were into the game and made some noise! We did not play scared, we played like we wanted to win, but the lack of bench hurt us tonight.

              Re: San Jose State

San Jose State had some good size to their players. I liked the hustle the SDSU team showed tonight. Up until the last maybe 3 minutes of the game, only 4 people had scored. AC looked really good tonight. He has got some good moves. He actually almost had a double double at half time (one point short). Kai had a rough first half but scored a little more in the second. Really surprised he didn't have more rebounds tonight. Garrett played really good. Nice shooting in the first half (don't think he scored that many in the second half). Clint got a couple of quick fouls but he score a little more in the second half. Mac looked out of sync tonight. His shooting was off and he was getting beat off the dribble. Dale looked off tonight too.

Against a taller team, the Jacks were busting after the rebounds. Someone posted the Jacks had 12 turnovers. There were easily 3 turnovers that should not have happened (perfect examples are the 2 inbounds plays). Don't think Micheal P was suited up (didn't do warm ups). Josh was suited but didn't play (don't know if he was totally healed up). Only played 8.

Posted this and then read Jacks99 question. SJS is a tall and quick team. They had a bigger center who played in the first half and not much the second. Don't know if he was hurt for the second half or if their coach didn't like the match up of the slower center against a faster Jacks center (Cordova was too quick for him). They bust after rebounds too. Every rebound was pretty physical.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

Oh yeah, I forgot to note.... their leading scorer from last year, #22 C.J. Webster, did not play the last 19 minutes due to an ankle injury.

                  Re: San Jose State

Excuse me if its been posted already, but what was the attendance? How was the crowd considering that SJ is one of the best men's teams that comes to Frost this year and considering that it was a close game?

I thought there was a player on the bench that I did not see at the exhibition game or listed in the roster. Did anybody else notice him. He sat at the end of the bench the entire game. Unfortunately whoever he was, he was not a big kid.

I thought the guys played real hard, seemed to run out of gas late and did not get to a couple loose balls they were getting to earlier. I was very happy with the effort, just needed some shots to fall.

Good effort by the guys. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. I just wish we had more talent.

What hurt us tonight was getting down 10-0 to start the game and fight out of a hole. Everytime we came back they had a nice run. Cordova/Callihan/Sargent really fought and Engen gave some nice minutes on the defensive end just getting his body between the player and basket, and altered shots. We need that from him.

Now I realize Kai struggled and missed early and often (1-9) from 3-pt land, which he started to aim, instead of just shooting the ball. Biggest stat was free throws and the fact that Kai never got to the line. We a player is not hitting you need to try to get to the line!

It also bothers me that these guys are walking on eggshells, they miss a shot and the reaction from the bench(coaches) is like how did you miss that, or why did you shoot that? Not every shot is going in!

They did play hard and you can see the pain in there faces!

                          Keep fighting!

I noticed that about Kai too, after he missed so many shots,he looked like he was try to steer the ball.

SJS was better tonight, but this Jack team looked A LOT different than last year. They came out with intensity, and hustled right to the end.

If they can maintain that intensity, along with improved shooting they can win some games this year.

The one on the end of the bench was a practice player. I'm not sure where he came from.
