  • Mid-Con scheduling observation

The Mid-Con appears to play men's basketball on Thursday and Saturday nights, and women's basketball on Saturday and Monday nights, with a double-header of the same two schools on Saturday.

Very nice, especially for road-trippers like me who can plan to see four games in Brookings over a long weekend. Hope they keep the same schedule with the 10-team conference.

That's great to hear. I hope this practice continues.

That would be great!! Driving up to Brookings for only one game is not as appealing as the doubleheader. Sure, I might get home earlier but on Saturday nights that shouldn't be as big an issue. I, too, hope this practice continues, don't know why it wouldn't.

Double headers do not occur, I asked about this and was told, "Doubleheaders create problems for reserved ticket sales because the two sports sell the same seats for a home game but a doubleheader would be difficult to determine who gets the seats and other underlying issues." And the schedule for next year has no home double headers for us.

Other schools must sell season tickets seperately, because the Jacks sell one package.

I thought our BB season tickets were good for ALL GAMES (Men & Women)?

Yep that was my impression too, one ticket costs $575, for lower back chairs. So we should get something. I think we will find out more about the double hitters which has been missed since going to D1.

From my conversation, the conference schedule is done and they haven't done doubleheaders. Now maybe my person was wrong. But I highly doubt back to back games. Maybe games with an afternoon and a night start time, we'll see when times are announced.

I just looked at the Mid-Con schedule for Basketball for the 07-08 year and it appears that the Men play Thursday and Saturday and the women play Saturday and Monday. The Saturday games are double headers or at least we play the same team the same day.

I wonder why the Mid-Con has it set up so that both the men and women's basketball are either at home or on the road during the same weekend. Isn't the basketball alliance we're in for this season set up so they alternate?

When looking at both the Men's and the Women's Mid-Con schedule it looks like Saturday games are double headers.  Mayber I am wrong.  :-/

I suppose they could do something goofy like a 1 pm men's game start, and a 7 pm women's game start for Saturday.

That would be OK for me as an out-of-town alum, but I'd think it would be a bit annoying for more local fans.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 3PM and 7PM start times.  This gives you enough time to go out and eat and socialize between games.  They could also schedule some family events between games on campus.  I would also alternate who plays the early game, the men could play early one week with the women playing the early game in the next home series.
